<< You can still see the laptops with the original cheap prices HERE! Can't look at the detail but you can see them listed.. >>

So, Any chance of using that info to have them PM'ed by Amex Blue?

Grr!!!

I ordered the $750 Slimtop Desktop. Just checked my order status, and it's been changed to "Cancelled"!!

All I really wanted was the desktop for $750, so if anyone (like jquerry) is going to return the Desktop they incorrectly sent you, please just sell it to me instead...

And after reading the past few posts, I thought I was going to receive a laptop...guess I'm going to receive NOTHING!!!

Oh well, win some lose some 🙂

Guys, we have a *real* case here. Because they raised the prices and reposted the laptops during the day, they're seriously boned. If you ordered a laptop and it got cancelled, then send an e-mail to the lawey (website is in thread a little bit back).

I got $67 for free from the monitor thing, and it was a *lot* shadier than this.

But do we actually have any recourse since we weren't actually charged anything?

codeyf Good question, but I think it's better if someone experienced to answer that. (Hint: the lawyer 😉 ) The more people write him, the more interested he should be.

This is BS!!!!!! My order was cancelled as well. I mean, this product was in the clearance section, and they should honor the price! I have written an email to the lawyer, but doubt that any lawsuit will come of this...FVCK BYE.com

They "check for authoriztaion" on my card. My ass my credit limit is now $5000 lower because I ordered 8 lappies. They send me nothing. Maybe I dont' have to pay the bill but my limit is now down for like a week. this is bs. they update there site every 24 hours my ass. when I bought the remaing 8 laptops it said sold out. now I don't even get a one. plus within 10 hours they had them reposted at a higher price. thst is not 24 hours. no cancellation email no nothing. and they are telling lies. emailing the lawyer now.

Latest correspondence:

Hello Oliver,

Thank you for contacting us at buy.com, the internet superstore.

We are responding to your email regarding order #xxxxxxxx.

We apologize that the Sony Vaio PCGFX190 PIII 850MHZ 128MB 30GB DVD that you ordered for the price of $650.00 was not shipped to you because the
item ran out of stock. There was not a price mistake on this item and
many orders were fulfilled and shipped. We completely understand your
frustration and disappointment but unfortunately, we do not have any
more of this item in any of the stores on our website.

Sometimes we receive a limited quantity of stock at a discounted rate
pass that savings on to our customers. We will sell that limited
quantity in our surplus store until everything is sold out. We then
change the product number, change the price back and sell the item in
the store where is would normally be located

However, this is not the case with the Sony Vaio PCGFX190 PIII 850MHZ
128MB 30GB DVD. We received a limited amount of stock at an excellent
price and passed that savings on to our customers. Because of the high
demand and great price that we were offering, we sold out of this
product extremely fast. The unfortunate news is that we do not have any more of this item. We can not fulfill your request because we do not
have a single Sony Vaio PCGFX190 PIII 850MHZ 128MB 30GB DVD to ship you.

Additionally, we only update our website every 30 minutes to reflect
product availability which is much higher then industry standards.
Again, because of the extremely high demand of this product, the item
was sold out before our website had a chance to update the quantity
remaining.

Please write again with any further questions or concerns.

We look forward to serving you in the near future!

-pissed off and don't care-

karma people.. karma.. about damn time

Oliver,

Please forward your email to the lawyer, if you don't mind. I think bye.com just killed themselves with the 30 minutes argument.

First off... TJ22, you are one greedy bastard, shame on you!

Second... CEO, did you get a response from the lawyer? I have sent a couple of emails to him, but got no response so far.

Third, here is the response I got after complaining about not fulfilling the sale:

Hello Johnny,

Thank you contacting us at buy.com, the internet superstore.

We are responding to your email regarding order #xxxxxxxx.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and confusion. We have
since corrected the error and removed the item from our website,
denoting that the item is no longer available.

Our supplier recently informed us that item #70003545 Sony Vaio PCGFX190
PIII 850MHZ 128MB 30GB DVD on your order is no longer available. Because
of this, the product has been automatically cancelled from your order.
We do not have anymore of this item in stock.

We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience. Please note you will not
be charged for this cancelled item.

Man, what a bunch of crock!!!

I will gladly do this... what's the email addy?

sorry for being greedy. It was just too good.

I like that email saying they ran out of stock and many people got them. BS no one got them. I ask that anyone getting an email reply from buy.com keep it in case we could use it as proof of their BS. I still received no reply or cancellation email.

actually tj22 - if you had ordered like just 1 laptop and kept quiet about it, buy.com might not have noticed the pricing error until after you got your laptop. I think when they saw that all of them sold out in like an hour and people were probably calling buy.com to try to get in on the deal, it alerted them to the error. although i appreciate the fact you shared the deal with us (at least the $750 one), buying out all 8 laptops and posting that its a hot deal is iffy. 😉

ah well.

No response yet, but that's not a surprise. This all happened so fast, for all we know he's out on vacation (it *is* Easter weekend).

It seems that Buy.com is telling each party that they are out of stockof both desktops and notebooks even though each of the respective items are being returned.

Of course the alternative is for buy.com to get them all back and sell them for a higher price. One story has the buy.com rep telling someone who r'vcd a notebook that they can't get them a desktop because they are OOS - yet the Web site lists the desktop unit in stock albeit for $995 instead of the $750 price the person orginally paid?!?!?. I don't think buy.com is being devious, just very poorly organized..

Do any of the folks who ordered notebooks and are holding desktops want to trade with someone who ordered desktops and r'cd notebooks? If we can track downa couple of folks who prefer desktops but are holding notebooks, who wants to fix the problem independently?

Thanks for the tip, Alfons. I'm looking into doing a story on this.

And here is a snipet from a desktop order that was fulfilled with a notebook:

...We sincerely apologize for the confusion surrounding your order. We understand that the same product you ordered, the Sony Vaio PCV-LX800 Slimtop Desktop is available in our Clearance Store. However, we are unable to issue a replacement order for this PCV-LX800, as it is a different price, and therefore has a different sku. If you would like the item now available, we ask that you place a new order.

So in this instance buy.com still has product in the clearance store but would rather sell it to the original buyer again, but this time at a higher price, because buy.com shipped the wrong product to begin with?

What kind of a DoubleSpeak is this?
