Price mistake eh? That's funny. What happened to "Oh, we got two shipments in. One was really cheap." Does Buy.com share a database with Best Buy or something? Watch them send a stack of CDRs instead of your $650 laptop. Whoops, why am I complaning? Buy.com is an online company and can do what it pleases....

FVCK! My order summary shows it as "Sent to wherehouse", but when I click on my order number, it says "Cancellation Requested" for status!!

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

Shhhh, don't say such things around here. The consensus on AnandTech is that online companies can screw with your order in any way they see fit. If they deem a CLEARANCE laptop too cheap, they can ship you desktop or nothing at all. Their TOS says so and their TOS supercedes all law, state or federal. If you whine, you will be flamed. If you fight for your rights as a consumer, then you are ferenghi, low-balling slime.

Well, maybe someone (or two) will get lucky. I've tried to cancel items before while in "sent to wherehouse" status and I still received them.

Has everyone recieved a cancellation email? I haven't yet, and the status on mine is curious. The main "My Account" page shows "Sent to Warehouse" but when I click on the specific order it shows "Cancellation Requested"...

I'm hoping they already shipped the laptop and they can't cancel the order... but who knows how likely that'll be. For now I'm just calling the CSRs and seeing what kind of story I can get out of them.

Guys-
I just talked to a CSR. I already spent another $50 on accesories for this laptop, and now it's cancelled! If someone is doing a lawsuit I'm *so* in on it. PM me, I'm willing to travel to testify (college student.. gotta love it!)

Update:
I e-mailed the lawer who handled the previous suit. I suggest *everyone* who got cancelled send him an e-mail detailing what happened to you!

If your reciept and invoice say Laptop and have the Numbers and letters for a laptop but were sent a Desktop. Then keep the Desktop, and e-mail Buy and tell them to send the laptop. When they say no, then write your CC and send them a copy of the reciept and invoice and say you never got the laptop. Buy will be forced to A. send the Laptop B. eat the charge back and you have a FREE desktop. Basic federal law. If they sent you something you did not ask for then you don't pay. Since you have not got your laptop yet, you or your CC don't pay. Period.

My Order (for the Sony Vaio PCG-FX190) also changed from sent to warehouse to Cancelled. Called the Toll free number and talked to CSR and got the explanation that the Clearance section items (inventory) are only updated once every 24 hours which is nonsense. I have been doing online business with Buy.com for years but they have now been added to the Bestbuy and Kmart list of companies that I WILL NOT patronize. This is a PENNYWISE but POUND FOOLISH approach to doing business, especially online where inventory should be kept current instantaneously. As a consumer I Do Have a choice where I shop and Buy.com is no longer an option.

I usually think there's too many whiners when a deal goes bad, like the BB GF3 Thanksgiving deal, or when there is an OBVIOUS pricing error and everyone knew it when they ordered. In this case the price was awesome but on clearance the $650 wasn't even 50% off the normal price. It was in the realm of possibility. Plus Buy.com added more stock through out the day. I think everyone who was lucky enough to order one deserves their laptop. Nothing less is acceptable in my view. I didn't get to order one and I've sulked about it all day. LOL But if I had ordered one and it got canceled I'd be really ticked. You feel like you got the best laptop deal ever and the rug gets pulled. Buy.com could save themselves a lot of time and money by just sending out the laptops. It's going to cost them much more in lawyers and their gonna lose on top of it.

I'm boycotting Buy.com until they give everyone their laptop or until the next insanely priced laptop shows up.

Ahhhhh I am so Pissed, I did'nt order the Dell P3 2600 for $790 because of this deal, and now I lost the dell deal too, Wasted too much time yesterday keeping an eye on this and what we got is B*ull Sh*t , This is insane :|

:( Sorry to say, but I, too, got in on the $750 deal. And right now the non-laptop is sitting in the apartment complex pick-up room. I have already got the RMA, and will just pick it up and drop it off at UPS.
Unfortunately things don't always go the way you want when you are dealing with big retail.
I called, they were quite pleasant, and the return is being handled. And if another good priced Sony laptop becomes available from Buy.com, I'll buy again.
If this is the worst deal I run into in the next 10 years (even next 1 year) I'll be quite surprised.
