not warm... u jsut have to look at all the cell phone companies and compare with each other they will keep upping their deals to beat one another.. #1 sprint just sucks..

i have cell one, who needs 3000 minutes free on weeknights and weekends when u can get unlimited like myself.. i can talk as much as i want digitally, also i get 800 anytime minutes a month all for $29 a month plus tax it comes to just under $35 with caller id, voice mail, three way calling, call waiting text messaging and other little dumb stuff.. shop around my friends its not hard...

Can anyone tell me if this is going to be with a one year contract.

In Bay Area it seems pretty good service though. Any idea how much more it will cost to get domestic long distance.

There is no cell one NE more, it is now cingular. Cingular offers no "bonus" night and weekend minutes at the moment. And I really don't care about the cell to cell free package. The thing that matters most to me is coverage.

Sprint is awfull here in Colorado.
I just cancelled my subscription.
Going with AT&T.
When you are saying that company such and such is good or bad don't forget to mention which state you are talking about.

Sprint is good in certain areas of the country I guess. I have it here in LA and it works everywhere I need it to, which ranges from the valleys, to OC, beach, etc. Just ask around b4 you commit.

ATT is terrible here in Florida. Voicestream blows it away, and even Verizon is much better. Haven't tried Sprint yet, but ATT is a joke. That is based on my 3 months of ATT use so far, as well as my experience calling other ATT users throughout Florida from a land line. They suckered me into a plan like this, and trust me, it is NOT worth it for the extra minutes. Get a real "TRUE" digital provider, and you'll never go back to crap like ATT's "analog garbage",
(even though ATT claims they are digital, they are not even close). ATT works exactly like the guy on the Sprint commercial says. Constant breakup's and endless static. Just say NO to ATT. You family and customers will thank you for it.

first post - so be gentle please!

i actually got this deal : ordered it yesterday - phone arrived early this morning and the first 8 hours of service have been flawless. went down to providence, ri this morning on an errand (i am in cambridge, ma) leaving the web-browser on, and it remained connected all the way through. i guess TDMA is older-tech, but has great coverage. i did ask a couple of guys who use at&t in the northeast about it (there used to be a lot of bitching about coverage in ny & nj) - but it seems they have added a lot of capacity in the last 6 months. i guess i'm about to find out!

note that promotion code ec6 (valid 'till tommorrow) gets you the the R280Lx for free ($99 -$50 instant-rebate-on-any-phone -$50MIR from ericsson)
the phone is built like that other swedish brick which i happen to like (volvo 240dl) and the web-browser is cute. be careful about which phone plan you get though, anything less than $49.99/mo means you'll have your off-peak minutes only for the first 6 months.

also, for those who just can't live without http, the time that you use the web-browser in the phone doesn't count against your talk minutes (unlike sprint).

oops - screen has scrolled to where i can't see the start of this message : which is a bad omen.

sorry for wasting valuable pixels on your screens, and hope this didn't sound like a sales pitch : it's just that this is the first company of any kind i have called *without* being put on hold !

<also the link pasted above in this thread, contains session information for some guy malcolm, who should probably be worrying about his privacy>

oops as i was linking this in, they extended the offer to march 1, so you have more time to dither ;)

Buy.com offers the R280LX for free, then you get the $50 mail in rebate from Ericsson (ends 2/14), so you make $50. Usual 1 year contract requirement, of course. They also offer the Ericsson LX588 and Nokia 51650/5165 for free (but no rebate on these) and the Motorola V2397 (free then you get a $30 rebate from Motorola - expires 2/14).

Sprint used to suck (Chicago) until a guy I work with called in complaints about service. Within 2 mos. they put up an antenna on my building! Complaining is the only way they'll know you're unhappy...

weaselrolf, in the northeast, you have little to worry about with at&t. I'm in cambridge ma too, and I often take trips through ma and ny, and i get great coverage throughout.
