Europe Engulfed is the best WWII board game I've ever played, however expect to spend 1+ weeks playing it (I suppose you could play it in a weekend... if you played it non stop with no sleep).

Settlers of Catan is an awesome game that is easy to learn and takes only about 1-1 1/2 hours to play. 3-5 people.

Thanks.

Diplomacy is a great game. Think of it like Risk. Except with no dice...so no luck is really involved. The only bad thing is that you need a lot of time, and seven people. You can play with less but its not as much fun. We used to play over lunch at work (nerds) and it took a few weeks to play.

You basically strategise and form alliances, and then of course stab each other in the back. (There are shorter versions of the game, I've only played it once)
Really great game.

If you like card games. Check out lunch money, and bohnanza.

I agree. Diplomacy is awesome if you have the people for it.

hoopla.. it's by the cranium people, and I guess technically not a board game at all, because there's no board. but it's still fun.. and doesn't take as long to play as cranium.

and catch phrase is a lot of fun, but also has no board.

Star Fleet Battles

Oh wow. That's awesome.

If your really interested in this game, I can upload some PDFs on the web somewhere which you can print and it will allow you to play a basic version of the game. Its pretty much a demo to learn the rules, but its still pretty fun.
