Id agree with that if i didnt grow up on the beach and work at the cocoa beach hilton from 15-19. All these guys would play on the boardwalk doing Buffet tunes.......Im burned out on it as im sure most people that live near the beach in Fl are.

Many already listed but I like the classics that everyone can sing along with:

Brown Eyed Girl - Van Morrison
American Pie - Don McLean
Piano Man - Billy Joel
Whole Hearted - Extreme
Hotel California - Eagles

Yup. Casualties of over-exposure. But for tourist types (or Parrotheads like myself) it fits the vacation mood perfectly and most can't get enough. We get the same thing here with Sweet Home Alabama where we hear it ALL the time from touring bands.

Anything with a more overly country twang or hard rockabilly sound is what I usually associate with 'bar' music - not dance club music. It usually sounds better live than on the radio.

The big bar here plays Hendrix, SRV, ACDC, GnR, Metallica...can't remember who else. I'll listen this weekend. 😉

Edit - NIN - Closer.

Sally called when she got the word

she said I suppose, you've heard about Alice

Well I rushed to the window, well I looked outside

I could hardly believe my eyes,

a big limousine rolled (drew) up into Alice's drive.

IDon't know why she's leaving

or where she's gonna go

I guess she's got her reasons

but I just don't want to know

'cause for twenty-four years

I've been living next door to Alice

(Alice, who the fvck is Alice?)

Twenty-four years just waiting for the chance

to tell her how I´m feeling maybe get a second glance

Now I've got to get used to not living next door to Alice.

(Alice, who the fvck is Alice?)

We grew up together (We walked together) two kids in the park

we carved our initials deep in the bark - Me and Alice

Now she walks through the door with her head held high

just for a moment, I caught her eye, as a big limousine pulled

slowly out of Alice's drive

Don't know why she's leaving...

(Then) Sally called back and asked how I felt and she said

hey I know how to help get over Alice.

She said now Alice is gone, but I'm still here

you know I've been waiting for twenty-four years

and the big limousine disappeared

I Don't know why she's leaving

or where she's gonna go....

Floater : The Sad Ballad of Danny Boy. I'm sure not a lot of people have heard of this band but it's truly great stuff.

That's right my name is Danny Boy and I like to drink at night.
I go down to the pub, wherein I buy myself a pint or three.
I like to go out drinking, 'cause beer it is my life,
until I come home and lay eyes upon my darling wife.
And they say
Oh Danny, won't you go home earlier tonight?
Your daugher doesn't know you
and your giving us a fright when you say...
Say, something's wrong with anyone who's not like me.
With you the violence just comes so easily.
You never learn I have to teach you constantly.
Hush now.
That's right my name is Danny Boy and I'll buy another round.
Then off to the market when this place closes down.
I say drinking's always done when the sun's up in the sky.
The sun is always up somwhere,
and it's your turn to buy and they say,
Oh, Danny, won't you go home earlier tonight?
Your son he doesn't know you and your giving us a fright when you say
Say, somthing's wrong with anyone who's not like me.
With you the violence just comes so easily.
You never learn I have to teach you constantly.
Hush now.
Hush now.
Sleep.
Sleep floating child.
..This is affectionate.

Hahaha, I was wondering if anyone knew of these guys. They used to play fairly often in this crappy old theater in Albany (20 min or so south of Salem) and I got to see them there a few times. Sadly, they turned the theater into a fvcking restaurant and I've not seen them since 🙁
