OT - I went to a freight auction in Raleigh, NC on Saturday and among the items that they were auctioning off was twenty or so pallets of AD-1100Ws. The going price was $650- $700 a pallet. There were 25 units per pallet. The units were still factory sealed and the pallets still had the shrink wrap and US customs seal on them. Do the math! At $700, that is only $28.00 per unit. Too bad I did'nt bid becase I had no way to transport them. Who in their right mind would order 20 x 25 AD-1100Ws and not claim them:Q

Where's the LCD on the front? Surely at that price they still could afford a read-out. LOL

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. Does anyone know how this player compares to the Apex 1500? Is this higher on the Apex DVD line?

I have a 500w and a 1000. The 500 is nice becuase its the standard size of a home theater device (same size as my reciever, vcr, etc.) and it has an lcd. the 1000 is small, no lcd. but it is firmware upgradable (can be made region free, and can change back ground image) The onscreen mp3 player is MUCH nicer, and it also supports .VOB files, they are a 5.1 video/audeo file. I'm assuming the 1100 is about the same as the 1000 but different color and a newer firmware.

I bought this dvd player for my mom this weekend. It played VCD, SVCD, MP3 cd, and DVDs perfectly while I was there. It also looks great compared to a lot fo the cheap dvds around. It does not have LCD but other then that it is decent. It has an RCA type digital out for 5.1 which is just as good as an optical one one in my opinion either one will light up the 5.1 light on my Sony DD receiver. It has Svideo out also. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking fro a good deal for your money.

Don't know about the region free and macrovision hackability of this particular model...but the Apex 3201 is supposed to be easily hackable through the remote control. No firmware upgrade required...just open the disc tray push a few buttons on the remote and that's it. I ordered one for my parents...but if the 1100 is hackable I may pick one up for myself...especially at this price.

I bought it and returned, and got the Shinsonic 100 at best buy for $79.50 instead.
This Apex 1100W doesn't let you select L or R mono for playing vcd, not good for bi-lingual chinese movie.

The only advantage on Apex 1100W is able to play jpeg files.
