If you're looking to get a Sprint Phone (and I've been shopping around for a while after my Nokia 8260 cracked its screen) Amazon looks to be a good place to buy their phones, as their prices are usually about half of what most retail stores are after all the rebates.

Before you all flame away on how much Sprint sucks, it's not too bad in the Bay Area and their plans are better than most.

Yes, you need to sign up for a new contract and activate it, but their prices were dropped on the 21st to...

Samsung A460 - free AR
Samsung A500 - $150 AR
Sanyo 4900 - $70 AR
and more.

You do have to sign up for a plan through Amazon to get the Amazon rebate, and no, their plans aren't the most current Sprint ones. But the CSR says the new plans will be up likely on Friday. These are by far the cheapest prices I've seen on Sprint phones, and I dropped by Best Buy, Circuit City, OfficeMax, Office Depot, and the Sprint Retail Store to check prices on Monday.

I second that. I bought an A460 from them for $150 - 80MIR - 50MIR... even used a $5 off coupon at the time = $15 phone. Then bought accessories with coupons (leather case is cheapest samsung orig at $14.99 and extended battery is $10 cheaper than other places). Eventually had to order the dual slot desktop charger unit from samsungusa.com because amazon said they "couldnt' get them from their supplier," but hey, they still left the coupons in the order.

One word of caution, the A460 I got had def. been "tested out" by someone else. Sticker was off the window, some extra bends to the manual, the phone's internal minute counter showed 7 minutes. I didn't sweat it much since I knew I was getting an extra battery and desktop charger ( = easy way to do full cycling on the battery) but their cell phone store isn't the pinacle of business, just an FYI.

Also, all that mumbo jumbo they have you do on amazon about picking plans and whatnot doesn't count for anything, you get the plan from sprintpcs.com and have to enter in all the options you want...

Is there a way to buy the phone from Amazon and pick the plan they show at http://www.pcsvision.com.
Sprint shows a $30 plan with $10 extra for Unlimited Vision, but Amazon doesn't show this plan anywhere.

The lady at customer service said that their plans should be updated around Friday to reflect Sprint's new offerings. If you do buy the a phone from amazon, you have to sign up for the plans they have to qualify for any Amazon rebates. So just wait till Friday and see what kind of plans show up...

Trust me, nothign prevents you from signing up for a different plan than that listed on amazon.... the only rebate connected to your plan asks for a phone number and another asks for a copy of your first bill (at least a month ago that was all).

I got the A460 from bestbuy last week for 129.99 with $50 Bestbuy MIR and $50 Sprint MIR ( or $100 each Sprint MIR if 2 person is sending the rebate together), this week they are selling it for $75 after $75 instant rebate. Went back and got back $55 bucks......so total will come out to be:

$129.99 - $50 - $100(2 of us is getting it) - $55 refund = -$75, consider a good deal to me i guess.....

Thanks for the info. I'll wait till Friday, those are great prices.

I was reading another thread, they said the downside of PCS vision is that although it may be 'unlimited', downloading certain things like ringers and games cost $.

What about the (negative) -$200 for a phone plus activation.

Is it worth it to get a crappy phone to make $200 by choosing that phone?
