Ok so I just bought a new hard drive, and I've got a clean install of Windows, so I'm trying to set the forum back up the way I liked it before. I have it mostly down but I'm obviously missing something here because it still isn't the same as before. Maybe it's because now I'm running FF5 compared to FF3? I had to upgrade because Greasemonkey wasn't working in FF3 for me anymore.

What it looked like before:

What it looks like now (I know it's titles ff40, that's a typo):

What am I missing? The thread starter is no longer under the thread title and the last post is on the far right instead of the left.

With the script the originator is on the right instead of under the title. That's one of the things the script changes. You must have been using an older version of the script previously.

But I have the script installed in both. As far as I can tell, I have all the same add-ons and scripts installed.

Keep in mind it's a 2 part system; a Stylish script and a Greasemonkey script. Just from fiddling around, if you disable the GM script and only have the Stylish script active, it would look like your first example. Your second example is what it looks like with both scripts active.

That was it, thanks. I must have disabled the greasemonkey script before and just forgot about it.

I thought the greasemonkey script was 90% of the changes while the stylish script just fixed the flashing somehow.

Greasemonkey is more capable than Stylish, however it has to wait for certain things to load before it can do anything, whereas Stylish rewrites a page before it even begins to render. So Stylish implements as many of the changes as it can to prevent flickering, but the final few things have to be handled by GM.

Saw this pop up on my subscribed threads list. Do people still use GM to make this place look like Fusetalk? I've long given in to our new vBulletin overlords.

I would, but I moved to Chrome. I've never liked vBulletin and I still do not; not sure whether vB is part of the reason they need to shut down every night, but if it is, I think that is one of the reasons social forums like OT have slowed down so much.

Indeed, I've always considered vBulleting to be my least favourite board platform, but eff it, someone made the call and here we are...

Maybe it's just me, but it seems the Dark Theme script no longer works. I just realized yesterday it wasn't working, so it must have quit within the last week or so. Greasemonkey says it's enabled.

FWIW, I just now upgraded from Firefox 8 to 10. Still broken.

It sounds like it somehow got broken in the server move last week.

Is there a way to use Greasemonkey to remove the links to user profiles under the thread listings? One in a while, I'll go to click on a thread and it turns out I clicked on the username instead so I get their profile.

I've seen a few time warps around lately. I saw them awhile back, developed a script to fix them, but then they went away. Now that they're back, I've uploaded vBTimecop here.

Hey, user scripts dot org has been blocked? What gives?

I think that means all the links in this thread are now broken. :(

Thanks! Looks better now. :)
I had to sacrifice a virgin to the volcano god (thankfully there's no shortage of the former in L&R), but it wasn't too much trouble otherwise. Sorry about that.

Some of the links died with my old site. My current scripts are listed here, and most of them are for something AnandTech.
