AKA the Banned/Vacationed member forum.

A few other forums I visit have adopted an interesting and IMO useful forum wherein Mods/Admins post an explanation of why such and such forum goer was suspended or banned, perhaps with the body of the text that got him into such a place.

Its useful for knowing where certain forum goers have disappeared to, provides a clear as day example of what NOT to do, in the spirit of openness keeps the Admin's honest (not that they aren't already...)

Formatted as follows:

Title:
[Banned/Suspended] [User's Name]
Message:
[Short explanation of why user was banned/suspended, link to offending post or brief list of grievances]

Thoughts?

Most times when a person is banned/vacation; the straw the broke the mods back will have a Mod edit in the post.

This is solely my $0.02 here and not an official opinion on behalf of the mods, but much of the time when we're banning someone who isn't a straight up spammer, part of their shtick is being an attention whore. In which case the last thing we want to do is to give them more attention.

On 1 VBB site im on if a member gets banned they can STILL POST on the "prison" message base to try an get an appeal of thier ban,say sorry to staff,etc....... (However if they abuse that it can also be blocked from them)

Trust me that would not work here, interesting idea though.

Ya the site i was referring to has it setup so they can block someone FROM ANY SECTION...

Say someone causes problems on "AFTER HOURS" or POLITICS...they can be blocked JUST FROM "AFTER HOURS" or "Politics" for 3 days or whatever)

Its kinda interesting.......

We have the same here, just without the negativity implication.

When a person has been vacationed; they still are allowed the ability to create a thread in the Moderator Discussion area. They can see replies and/or further comments from the Mods or the member only.

There is no need for others to know what is private between the moderators and the member.

I wouldn't think of it as a prison forum, although it could be interpreted as that 😱

Go ahead and visit the prison forum aka Moderator Discussions, it's a private forum where only you and the Admins/Moderators can view and post.

No your right and its strange they have it so any member can read what other members have posted there..... (No one can start threads/reply though (other than banned accounts))
