Graphing calculator woes

I opened up my graphing calculator (TI-83+) yesterday, to see a giant spot on the screen where it looks like it has been smashed. Great, just great. Is there any way I can get this fixed without having to buy a new calc, or am I gonna have to live with half my screen being all screwed up?

You might be able to get the screen replaced, but I'd have no clue where to go to do it. My guess is that for the cost, you'd be just as well off buying a new one.

You're in deep. At least you may be able to get a TI-89 if you play your cards right.

Yeah right, knowing my parents they'll just say I'm screwed and I have to buy my own new one. Oh well, I can live with it right now. I just hope it doesn't get worse. Luckily its at the bottom, and I can still see a little bit over the damaged spot.

Call customer service at TI. They are very helpful. They might sell you a refurbed TI-89 if you return the 83 to them. Cost is about $85 shipped with tax.

my ti-85 has three "lines"that are dead, nothing shows up on them. it sucks.

I guess I'll live with it till I get a job. I don't really need the calc for much till next year anyway.

In old LCD displays (such as those in TI-82s, TI-85s, and the regular Game Boy) that is quite common. Those dead vertical lines are sure annoying, but nothing can be done about it except getting a new screen.

Can't you return it to the place you got it from?


There's also a plan B which I had to use when I fvcked my ti-89 over with iced tea, but I'd save it for last.
