graphics rendering problems in games

I have an ATI Radeon 8500LE which had been working just fine up till a couple days ago.

I tried to play games Midnight Club 2 and Rise of Nations (which had been working perfectly) and strange things were happening
In rise of nations the graphics were screwed up, the game took forever to load and many colors were missing
In Midnight Club 2 most of the graphics were missing, such as what happened before i updated my catalyst drivers. (However after i updated the drivers the game worked well until now)

I have updated to ATI Catalyst 3.6 drivers (the lastest ones on the ATI site) and have Direct X9b and yet these problems still persist. Anyone have any ideas of what to do?
 
try taking the door off the side of the pc case and see if the vid card fan is spinning, even if it is, leave the side off and see if it gets any better. if so your problem is heat. another likely sounding problem is memory corruption but pretty hard to say!
