Graphics Mainboard

Ati and Nvidia should make graphics mainboards into which you could plug in GPU's, ram modules, video chhips, coolers, etc. It would allow us gamers to modify every component of our graphics card and be truly unique at the same time.
Also, it would be alot more economic as for e.g, if you need to buy a 7950GT gpu, you'd only need to buy the chip which would be very cheap.

it would also never work. sockets add a lot of signal losss. not to mention the boards would need to be really expensive since they'd have to be say 8 layers or more to accomodate the highest end gpu and have all the power circuitry to have the hightest gpu.

i mean , if you havea 7600gt now, it has a less expensive pcb, less expensive power circuits etc. if you had to buy a blank board that could support a 7600gt through an 8800gtx, you'd have to have the pcb of an 8800gtx minimum.
