Graphics Card

I am asking for opinions, reviews, info' etc on the MSI Graphics Card - Radeon 9800 Pro in particular, but would welcome comparisons with any other Radeon 9800 card. thanks.😕

Any cards based on the reference design from ATi are going to be exactly the same. The only difference is the included software or cables. With the 9800's, make sure you're getting the 256bit memory interface and not the 128bit.

Generally correct. But in shopping for the 9800 pro earlier this year, I thought there were differences in the warranty period offered. Some offered a 1 yr waranty while the BBA I got has a 3 yr waranty. Don't know what MSI offers.

Otherwise, some makes have the newer XT core while other have the older pro core. I'd search here cuz it's been noted many times which makes have good chance of getting the XT core. Although by now, they may all it. I dunno.

Also some Pro's have diff/better cooling solutions.

And, there are three kinds/maker's of the vid ram used on a pro (Samsung, hynix and maybe Infineon, always seem to forget the third). IIRC, Samsung is better for OCing.

I can't help with MSI in particular, but the above were the diff I noted when shopping.

I don't know that much about the 9800Pro, but from what I've heard the MSI RX9800PRO-TD128 is a very nice card. It has an 256bit memory interface and it is absolutely great at OC'ing..

I'll try to find some more info or reviews on this particular card.

I have the Radeon 9700 Pro and it's been a great card. You can't go wrong with the 9800 unless you can get a 6800gt for a little bit more. 😛
