you would need a new mobo to run sli. it's not worth it right now imho when there will very soon be very good cards at $100, $150, $200, $300, $450, and $600 available. The only reason crossfire/sli has been so popular lately is the dearth of cards available at specific price points. How many people recommended sli 8800gts 320 as an alternative to one 8800gtx back in early 07? We are finally getting back to that situation today (about time, too).

The Radeon 4850 is $199.99 and offers better performance then what $270 would have bought you just a week ago. So $300 performance a week ago equals $200 performance today, so save $100 and get a 4850. If you want to spend $300 wait a week and see how the 4870 performs. Also Nvidia will be releasing a $230 card (9800GTX+) soon, but it'll probably be pretty close to the 4850 that is available now.

Graphic card depends on what you have for a monitor & mother board. Most games near future should be more than playable with a 4850 @$175.00; and go for a crossfire 4850 set up that cost an additional $50.00 if your mother board & monitor can ultilize it.

If you can't do SLI/crossfire, I would DEFINITELY wait for the 4870. Unless it's a complete flop, I'd go with one of those.

4870, hands down- it will have no competition at $300, if not, the 4850- it is in a similar situation, it is by far the best choice at $200.
