Graphics Card Purchase and Gaming Question

Alright. So does that mean that I have to get another power supply, or is the one I have fine? (Thanks for being so patient with me!) And will I be able to better emulate Super Smash Bros. Melee? (At least 60fps constant?) As mentioned in the latter, it already is running at 50-60fps but does have slow downs. This is at 640*480 however, If I still have to play at that resolution and it run's smoothly, than I am perfectly fine with that. To be honest the games I would like to play would be like, Bioshock/2, NFSC, Portal, games like that. Especially emulated games. Crash Bandicoot 2 runs really nicely and looks beautiful on my machine when emulated at my native screen resolution with no slow downs. I'm looking to be able to emulate Gamecube/PS2 games. I'm not a big fan of systems and sold them when I found emulation. I just kept my games and am working with that. I have a high familiarity with emulation programs, so that won't be of any issue.
 
Thank you all very much! I'm glad I don't have to purchase a new power supply. Based on what information I've given, could you tell me what wattage I have right now? And are you sure I don't have to upgrade the PSU despite the fact that the card recommends a 400w PSU?

you do not have to upgrade that psu to use the 5670 if you don't want to. it has 2 12v rails so its combined 12v amps are well over 20 which is plenty for your setup.
 
that psu has 30Ax12=360W!!! dedicated to line that not many device use these days.

Now you have a 140W left of a uncertified 500w psu.

Do you know what rales are? You cant look at that total and say it produces that. You have to take the combined 12v total they give in Watts and devide it by 12 to see what the overall 12v line can produce. You cant just add it up.
Rails are the printed tracks on a pcb that the wires connect into. Now its monitored by a OCP chip. Its basically for overcurrent protection. Which is useless on psus under 750w.
 
Hay dude, Just to make sure. Do you have a PCI-Express slot? Some older mobos still have AGP.

I did not directly add them up but even just one 12v rail is 18 amps and the other 12v rail would certainly contribute something. 18 12v amps alone is enough to power that system so whatever the other 12v rails contributes is just more cushion. the op is fine.
 
stop being ridiculous. that system would only use about 150-160 watts under gaming load.

^If that totals were on the 12v yeah great but on the 3v and 5?

Wonder where is he going to plug the gpu in?

yes you will be fine. total system wattage will be around 150-160 watts during gaming which is 13 amps. you have plenty of 12v amps for that. heck you can see in review people using a 9800gtx just fine.
 
So, I swear this is the last thing I ask, then I'll be outta your hair. Is the card compatible with my board?
