Graphics card powerful enough

Ok, I'm thinking of getting 2 CRTs. One will be 22" and the other will be a 24" widescreen. I'm just wondering if current graphics cards will be powerful enough to run both of them. I will be getting either a 6800 GT or Ultra, so I'm guessing that those will be powerful enough, but I just wanted to make sure.

Say I run them both at their max resolutions (2048x1536 and 1900x1200) just for the sake of discussion.

no game can run a resolution that high, can it? And if so, you wont have many frames at ALL

No, I wouldn't be gaming on both at the same time. The 22" would be for gaming (unless the game supports widescreen). The 24" would be for movies. And of course both for desktop and light tasks.

Sorry for not being clear on that. I have no illusions that any card out now could support that for gaming. But for normal web browsing and whatnot, it wouldn't have any problem running both?

no problem at all. in fact one of the new features of teh x800 series is widescreen support. It works good. I have an x800pro and I run in on a rear projector in widescrean for games like x2 and ut2k4 among other games. widescrean is awesome.

Well, I'm talking about running both monitors at the same time here though. Will it have any problems pushing both at their max resolutions?

I was just kinda curious because Apple's new 30" monitor is such a high resolution and supposedly they had to make a special 6800 Ultra just to be able to power it and push the pixels that it can sustain. I figure that running dual monitors like this would be as strenuous as that, but perhaps not.

I can't say from experience, but a card can take a high resoltutions on 2D mode without ANY problems. I don't think 2d is even an issue anymore of frames

2d on both moniters should be just fine with any of those cards listed.

The 24" Widescreens can be an issue running native mode using DVI. You'll want to research this carefully. Samsung models 240t have a native resolution of 1920x1200, generally a single link DVI supports to 1600x1200@60Hz via DVI. Samsung's drivers apparently can make use of the blanking interval to support 1920x1600 at less than 60Hz.

Google 240t and DVI and read up before you purchase.

and before you buy a video card, make sure it is totally compliant with the dvi spec. you'll want i think at least a 160mhz dvi signal to output at those resolutions.

It is a CRT with VGA inputs. There's nothing to do with a DVI here.

What is with all the answers above!?
CRT, dual vga: you will need to make sure it basically has both ports or you can buy an adapter for like $5 to adapt one (or both) of the DVI ports on the graphics card to make it vga. I really dont see why any graphics card by either company, if it has dual ports, and supports those resolutions, wouldnt be able to support both monitors. NV's Nview I believe may be what you are looking for.

Another option is dual graphics cards. PCI and AGP.

2D isnt really an issue for cards if they support the resolution. So basically buy any dual port card or 2 cards that support the resolutions you are looking for. The only flaw in this, is that ive never tried 2 different resolutions on the same card. I'm sure 2 different cards could most definately do it, but im not sure about the same card on 2 different resolutions. Im pretty sure u can do it, but not 100% sure sense ive never tried it.
