graphics card incompatibility???

i have a p4 2.26 with an abit it7, corsair xms3200, a gainward golden sample ti4200 128mb... its running at 2.55ghz fsb 150 3:4 DDR400... with winxp pro and an audigy platiunum... many 3d programs will not work. 3dmark2001, unreal tournament 2003, all the nvidia demos and benchmarks, and the FFXI benchmark... none will load, all of them come up with an error. for 3dmark the error says "3dmark was not able to detect the required minumum features in your 3d accelerator. Please ensure that your directx is working properly and the correct drivers are installed" as far as i can tell, they all are... whats going on ehre???????!!!!

Have you tried running dxdiag.exe and clicking the disable and then enable direct3d button. This happened to me once and even though it said it was enabled it wasn't and none of my directX 8 features would work. Worth a shot!
