Graphics Bottlenecking?

I bought a HP touchsmart 520-1050 last year, with 6 gigs memory, i5 2400s cpu, and integrated graphics. It runs really speedy when running any application, but when I load up sketchup, it still runs fast on small files, but on bigger files with more components it starts to run slow (e.g. it lags when I try to pan). Do I have a bottlenecking component?
 
It has HD2000 graphics which are fairly low end, if it had hd4000 or dedicated GFX card then it would probably rule out GFX bottlneck, CPU should be fine

Yes, the HD2000 can't handle the more complex rendering requirements of large scenes.
 
Basicly your gfx card is not being bottlenecked. You whole system is bottlenecked by gfx card so priority is to get better gfx card. Which is not possible it being an allinone. Your best bet is to get a new pc if you plan to upgrde anything

He doesn't have a gfx card.

Has anyone actually checked if his system is upgradable because from the 30 seconds I spent it seems it has an upgradable MXM graphics module.

Software like anti-virus software can slow down a computer significantly.

The specs says it will accept a 2500 i-5 so maybe it will work with a i5 2500k which has better graphics. However, you can only upgrade the RAM to 8 gigs. The specs says it will accept a mobile express module. That would not be much of an upgrade. The problem with much of this kind of a customized all-in-one system is it can not be upgraded much. You might try updating the drivers or system software first. For high-end graphics software you really need a better processor and maybe a medium to high end range video card with lots of RAM and upgrade the system RAM to about 16 Gig.

What processsor to buy depends on what the software you have can work with. Some graphical software can benefit from an i-7 quad. However, for casual use you may consider just a better i-5 and a good video card.

The OS might make a difference in a case like this. Windows 7, 64 bit, is probably the best bet. I have tried windows 8 but it just seems too buggy.

I once saw a guy use a expressport along with a independant psu to power a 660ti, maybe he can develop a 'box' which he plugs in for all his gaming needs

OP states the computer is more than fast enough in other applications.

You really think HD2000 to a GTX680M isn't much of an upgrade (ignoring the fact that particular mobile chip would cost a ton and assuming it has an MXM type B port)
 
Yes. He would have some bottleneck but depends if he goes and puts a 7970 in there. But if he stays realistic and aimes for a 7750/7770 then it woulsn be as noticeable
 
Thanks guys, I think my best bet is to buy a new computer with better graphics, and a better CPU too.
 
Tablets have optimised gpus and cpus and ram, they will never have as kany services and backgrpund apps as a pc. The leading mobile gpu i believe is the mali-400
