Graphic glitch/ Flashing Textures in Doom 3

I had a 9800 pro a few days ago and finished the entire game without any glitches.

Since then I've formatted and installed service pack 2. I have the latest catalyst and directx drivers.

In terms of hardware the only thing I changed was from a 9800 pro to a x800 pro.

when I'm in various stages of Doom 3, I get these flashing "checker board" glitches that appear to be on the textures. It happens almost every where I go in the game and it's extremely annoying.

I'm running everything on stock speeds and everything on default settings. I have tried to use old catalyst drivers and even down clocking the card with no success.

Any ideas?

That sounds like a heat issue with the card. Make sure the fan is turning and the heatsink is seated properly. If you're overclocking the card, try backing off until the artifacts go away.

i'm not overclocking the card and I have the fan at 100%. I don't think they're artifacts because it's always the same textures that have the glitches. 3dmark03 runs flawlessly with none of these glitches.

What are your CPU/case/VGA temps when you back out of D3?

When I flashed my 9800pro 256/256 to an XT. I got little block type artifacts on surfaces in Doom3 and only in D3. Every other app was flawless. I changed the stock HSF over to a VGA Cooler, it cleared up the artifacts and it's been fine ever since.

Maybe try taking the side off the case and aiming a fan at the card to see it that helps.

come to think of it, my 9800 pro did have a vga silencer v3 on it when i played doom, i'm running stock on the x800 pro right now. My cpu temperatures are around 50C (2500+ @ 3200+). video card usually stays around 50-60C. I've tried every other game and they were good. It's only in D3.

Another cooler will be ~$40 and i just got this video card and don't feel like voiding the warranty this early. I've checked other forums and haven't seen any solutions.
