HI toyota,
I have old PC and I am upgrading my old p4 to following,

Intel I7 930
Gigabyte udr3 sli
4gb ddr3 ram
500 gb sata
SMPS Iball 600
dvd dual writer
suitable atx caninet

I already have 22'' DELL SX2210 monitor. 1920X 1080 are the default resolutions. I have very tight budget and thats why I want to sum up GPU under $200. Please let me know which graphic card suits my PC.

have you already ordered those parts?? I dont understand why you would get just 4gb of ram instead of 6gb so you can use triple channel. I also have no idea what SMPS Iball 600 is.

No I didn't order them yet. I just got those configurations today.
What you want to suggest for I7 930 with Gigabyte Udr3 sli. and SMPS Iball 600 is the PSU. Iball is company name and 600 Watt. its the cheapest PSU in 600 watt.

Could you please suggest any better combination of RAM, GPU and PSU.

well if this is for gaming then drop down to the i5 760 and 1156 mobo and save yourself 150 bucks. I will let some other others give you more specific ram and psu recommendations.

PSU Alert! A no-name 600W power supply doesn't match well with high-end components such as OP's LGA1366 build.

Maybe an LGA1156 build with 4GB would cost less enough to allow a proper PSU in the budget?

Edit: ninja'd by toyota.

Details of OP's usage requirements would let us spec out a full build recommendation, including graphics card.

well not for gamin only but ALso for programming. I need to run Visual studio 2010, Sql server 2008, Windows Media player, adobe photoshop and Chess game at time and eveything should run smoothly along with browsing. thats why I am going for I7 930.

DON'T ever buy that PSU... Cheapo PSU are bound to fail.. and may even take your $1000+ worth of components with it.

There is no use spending so much cash on components and settling for a cheap PSU.. that does not make sense.

Are you even in the US?.. because I have seen Iball PSU's only in India and its neighboring countries.

Follow toyota's suggestion and get your self an i5..

I5 seems slow for me but I would like to see some recommendation for PSU and RAM.

It is a question of balancing the build with a suitable, reliable power supply. Don't try to save money on the PSU while getting higher power-drawing components.
Some questions to consider:

Does OP need more than the 4cores of i5-7xx, or is HT required for extra cores (then choose i7-8xx or i7-9xx)?

Does OP need 6GB of RAM with triple-channel bandwidth (LGA1366), or will 4GB and dual-channel suffice (LGA1156)?

Is the efficient GTS450 good enough for OP's DX11, SLI requirements, or is the higher power-drawing GTX460 needed?

Answers to these should give some idea of the correct PSU.

It depends on your budget, based on your OP, it seems that you are extremely tight on budget.

If you want to go the s1366 route.. you have to be willing to spend some more to build a balanced and stable system. Like 6GB RAM, better and expensive PSU... this will leave you with little to no money to spend on you video card.

Yes, I chose 930.I need HT for what I said, to run VS, SQL, Photoshop and other things simultaneously.

Yes, actually 4gb is just for now. I have plans to make it 16GB in coming months. So 4g is enough for now.

The problem with GTS450 is that, it doesn't have my monitor's default resolutions 1920x1080. http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Displays/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&cs=19&sku=320-7976

Although GTS 450 supports those resolution but I don't want to spend $128 on a thing which do not even display my monitor's default configurations. I mean to say, If I am already spending so much for the other things then why not for GTX 460.

I am having a hard time understanding what you are saying!.. Do you mean GTS450 does not have the power to play at the native resolution, or 450 does not support 1080P?

GTS450 does support 1080p resolutions, you should have no problem driving that monitor.

Thank you for your answers. The questions were to understand what is important to you. Your apps benefit from HT, but HT is not absolutely necessary - just useful, and you are clear that you want this feature of i7 processors.

If you can work with 4GB initially, please also consider the i7-8xx processors on LGA1156. These are equally as good as i7-9xx, but run on the less expensive, lower power-drawing LGA1156 motherboards,
