graphic card for my gf

hey people i need suggestion for graphic card for my gf, she plays skyrim these days on 8400 gs. she says its unplayable. so budget is 80-100 usd or 70-90 eur. any suggestions. big please. and thnx. and she says it must be geforce(silly girl)

In that price range you're probably going to be looking at a Radeon HD 6750.

Why must it be Geforce? You can pick up a new Radeon HD 7770 for about $110 after rebate, here or here.

Then again, if it must be Geforce, you could pick up the crap that is the GT640 for ~$100 at Newegg. Waste of a purchase though.

Other than that, you're looking at something used, or a last gen card like a GTX 550ti (another crap card), but the 7770 is faster, consumes less power, and runs cooler.

Obvious solution is to get a new gf, then, duh.

For $90-100 you can get an open box HD 7770 or HD 6850 which are both good choices. You may be able to find someone selling a GTX 460 1GB for a similar amount secondhand, which is the NV counterpart to the HD 6850, All 3 cards I listed are in the same performance bracket.

Do you care if the card is a refurb? Newegg has couple refurb GTX cards that just shy of $100.... those will be great for Skyrim at your price level.

nVidia's new higher end cards are great but their new 28nm tech has not trickled down to the 100 price point yet.

Meanwhile the 7750 and 7770 are made on the new 28nm process and they are just awesome in that price range.

What resolution does your GF play? Does she want to play at high quality settings? Is her current card unplayable at 800x600 low quality or just unplayable at 1920x1200 ultra quality?

i think cpu is athlon 250
mb is something from asrock
2 gigs ddr3 1333 or something
hd is so small practically there is not in there 80 gigs pata disk maxtor i think (lol)
gc is palit 8400 gs 512 ddr3 64 bit

and for the resolution, whatever gc can run, she s not game freak. she plays every game that she gets. from most shitiest game to the game that hers pc can run.

Err... she is not going to get something playable for that budget period unless she games at like 640X480 or something...
