My grandmother is over 90 and lives in another state. She really has trouble with her PC and multiple windows. I'm thinking something like a Chromebox may work well or even something more simplified. She only uses the Internet for webmail but we are working on expanding that with a DSL option that opens doors. [she is on dial-up now...]

Anyone use the chomeboxes or chomebooks?
It looks like you can't get the official chome os build that google uses that auto-updates without buying an OEM device.

Not familiar with that specifically, but you could rig up a GNU/Linux distro that would be easy for her to use. That might expand your hardware choices. I have Ubuntu on my mother's machine, and admin it over Teamviewer, or when I go to her house. It goes to sleep when she closes the lid, and wakes up when she raises it. She uses Thunderbird and Firefox, and starts them from the panel, but if you really just want a browser open, Lubuntu could be used, and either start the browser full screen, or put a big icon on the desktop for her to click.
