O Yea when was the last time you get to see how Sec or High school kid held them self!

both my 13 year old nephews never speak like this, are very polite and respect their elders highly. so american children are very respectable.

by your rationale i can safely conclude that my opinion is twice as valid as yours.

And I hope all Kids are they way to their elders.

she is 18, the story doesn't say anything about the daughters mom but i know for a fact if i or my sisters did something like that to our grandparents we would be thrown out of the house. no question about it. the bitch granddaughter has no respect for anybody but herself.

The grand daughter was out of control and a bitch. I don't really see anyway to debate that.

I do think this was a major police fail as well. Police have a complex job that demands adapting to new situations, flexibility in their daily operations and, making an impression on the community that will help them do their job a little easier the next time. Blindly following ANY 'zero tolerance' policy can only lead to more stress on the job and less cooperation in the communities they serve.

That is just screwed up. Girl shouldn't behave like that towards her grandmother, and shouldn't be hitting old women (or anyone).

Even if the girl where younger than 18, grandma has no business hitting other people's children unless she is the legal guardian.

It can also result in disciplinary action against the individual officer - not following policy isn't too good for stress levels either. Blame policy / law makers.

I believe that qualifies as "spoiled brat." The nerve of that grandma.

But seriously, this might be the best thing that could happen to the girl. Perhaps she will start to realize that actions do have consequences.

I hear ya. My outlook is it's better to make a decision you know is right than protect your job by hiding behind policy. 'Course, I've had to change jobs a number of times because of it.

If your superior either can't or refuses to make a case for following a specific policy given a unique set of circumstances, I say fuck 'em. If they can't trust me to do my best, I can't trust them to have the unit's best interest at heart. In short, 'because I said so' aint good enough, not by a long shot.

"Mandatory arrest policy"...while I can understand why that might help with certain things, officers need to have the ability to actually think when it comes to situations such as this...that's friggen rediculous

not in family disputes like this. The idea is when a husband beats up the wife and cops are called. The wife will say they don't want him arrested and will nto press charges. so many places have the "mandatory arrest policy" when they care called to a domestic fight.

sadly the cops had to arrest her. but that kid needs to get her ass kicked.
