6800gt is a 16 pipeline card clocked at 350mhz. Most make it to almost the speed of 6800ultra which is 425mhz

Can someone explain this to me? The 6600GT has 100Mhz higher clocked memory but 4 less pipelines than the X1600PRO. How can it be faster???

Well, I don't really know for sure how the 6600GT is up there with a X1600pro, but I think the X1600 series has 4 pixel pipelines, yet for each pipeline, it has 3 shaders to it, so it has a total of 12 Shaders.

It's like the X1900 series in a way, because the X1900 series has 16 Pixel Pipelines and on each of those pipelines are 3 shaders, giving the X1900 a total of 48 shaders, and the X1600 in the same way, except it only has 12 shaders.

Pixel Pipelines = the number of pixels that can be outputed per clock.
Pixel Shaders= the number of pixels that can be processed internally per clock

There is a difference between the two. The Shaders are what processes the pixels and the Pipelines are what actually deliver the pixels onto the screen, if I understand correctly.

So, the X1600 has only 4 pixel pipelines, while the 6600GT has 8 pixel pipelines, but the X1600 has a more efficient architecture because it's a newer generation than the 6600GT, so that's how it can be up there with the 6600GT.

get a 256mb Geforce 7300GT GDDR3 which beats the 6600GT and may be around a X800GTO

Newer doesn't mean better, a radeon 9700pro released in mid 2002 is better than a fx 5800 class of a year later
also, geforce 4 ti was very good and maybe many times better than radeon 9600 series in dx 8 atleast i think
