RIP grandma. At least she went out swinging.

I've played bingo dozens of times, yet haven't ever won. It's harder than the lottery, so I understand wanting to protect your winnings.

A 76-year-old woman was killed in a shootout as a gang tried to rob her outside her South Carolina home in the early hours of Saturday.

Dorothy Hendrix was shot twice by the gang of two men and a woman, but she managed to shoot one of her assailants in the stomach before dying of her wounds.

Steven Hagood, Tereba Geer, and Bradacious Galloway have all been charged with murder.
'She fought. She was a fighter. She shot him,' the victim’s brother, Ronnie Lollis, told WYFF News Channel 4.

Ms Hendrix, who was known as Dot to her friends, had been returning to her Anderson County home at 1am when the gang allegedly tried to rob her.

The 76-year-old fired at the group and one of them fired back, hitting Ms Hendrix in the abdomen and the arm.

A neighbor called police after hearing the gunshots, but Ms Hendrix died outside her home while a relative held her hand.

Money is worth more than your life. Too bad it doesn't go with you, so she died over her own greed.

If someone is more ruthless than me and can take me out, you can have my ball gag.

lol

I was half joking. Depending on the situation I would protect my family and myself. If I run up against 5-6 guys with guns I am going to think twice.

I personally dont really need a gun anyway. I know Taiji 😛

Title is misleading. Grandma wasn't protecting her "Bingo" money, she was protecting what were apparently the proceeds from illegal bingo gambling machines found in a raid where she worked. You'd have realized that if you'd read the linked story.

From the sourced article:

A 76-year-old woman killed in a shootout was targeted because of large sums of money she carried in connection to a business she worked at, the Anderson County sheriff says.

Anderson County deputies say they executed a search warrant at Dorothy Hendrix's workplace. They confiscated 15 illegal gambling machines from 3454 Cinema Center in Anderson Tuesday afternoon.

So, this was no little grandma taking home her winnings from a Catholic Bingo parlor.

Second, this happened a week ago Saturday, not yesterday. Again, go to the source story and you'll realize that.

This is the original article, updated on the 24th:

As a society we would never have evolved very far if we bent over and accepted criminal abuse. RIP bingo Grandma. . . I'm an atheist but at times like this I wish there was a Valhalla.

Why, someone is just going to take it from you without a fight.
If they are armed and I am not probably. If they dont have a weapon in their hand they will probably need medical attention. If they have a weapon and I am in difficult position I would probably give up my watch and wallet and go home and hug my kids. Now if someone threatens my family I dont hesitate. Sorry your incapable of multidimensional thought.
Sorry, but I just cant get my head around people who say, give in to scumbag cretins!....

If it means dying then ya, Ill give you material objects that have no real meaning. If its my kids/wife I wont back down. Can you get your head around that things arent so simple?

A good friend got robbed and shot at an ATM about six years ago. Guy was armed he was not. He refused to give him his wallet and almost died for 400 bucks. He has since realized he was an idiot.....Can you?

Yep, there's always more to these stories than meets the eye.

Would it be excusable to hand the robber my material things, wait for him to turn, slice his throat with my knife, then get back said material things. :sneaky:

Its better to burn out than fade away.

This grandma had her choices made very clearly and dying at the age of 76 is not a bad deal anyway. I do wish she survived this incident, but despite the fact she didn't, we must admit this was one heck of an old woman.

RIP Supergranny, If there is a heaven, I hope its a bingo party for you with your chair befitting a queen.
