if you get tired of waiting and no one hosts it, compusa has a combo GTA deal for $9.99
It includes GTA, GTA London and GTA2 -- saw several today at compusa in Tacoma WA in the "value software" thing
It's probably online as well

I'm too cheap for that, and would probably hit refresh a million times to save $10

hahahaha i find it interesting that not many people knew about the GTA games before GTA 3. GTA 2 is a very fun game. Very very fun. Looks good too in comparison to the first GTA.

LOL, I suppose RockStar learnt better and now informs user when the heavy load takes place

"Thank you ThunderRiver, for your interest in the Rockstar Classics Free Download Series.

Unfortunately, we are experiencing a high volume of downloads now and your information has not be collected.

Please try back another time."

Good grammar too :p

On the side note, I found an alternative place for downloading (full game minus audio tracks)..

abandonware.the-frenchkiss.biz/english/index.php?page=detail&id=1215

For Mods, PM me if I should take down the link...

I just signed in with a fictitious name, etc. I got this:

Thank you Soupy, for your interest in the Rockstar Classics Free Download Series.

Unfortunately, we are experiencing a high volume of downloads now and your information has not be collected.

Please try back another time.

Does that mean it detected my bogus info, or the server was just too busy?

Yeah, I've been getting that same message for a week now. The Rockstar servers must be getting hammered.

Yeah, maybe we can find the files on DC++ or something.

Personally, I think Rockstar is full of crap. What good is a "free" game if you can't get it?

Hard to believe that something "free" would end up damaging a company's image like this is. I've tried for days to get through with no luck. Rockstar has a big flop on their image meter from this...it doesn't instill faith in the company.

It's FREE, what'd you expect? They could've save themselves the trouble and not offer free games for download so your cheap ass can go out and actually buy the game for $5.
