Worst driving game ever? I suppose that's meant to be hyperbole, but it's not even close. That award goes to the PC game, "Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing": Youtube

I agree, on every part except, I think the new Hot Pursuit is as good as the other ones, but this one just makes me wish I was playing Burnout.
GT5 is just, I can't say disappointment, but I think its basically fully convinced me that I don't enjoy the franchise any more. GT4 was the real disappointment for me, and I knew going in most of the issues with GT5. The problem for me is that, while they've improved many aspects, they aren't as fun as the first 3 for me, and I don't think that Polyphony Digital even wants to make the game people are really wanting. Instead they're trying to do a ton of things, all of them mediocre.
This game in my eyes was meant to be the be all end all. So many years of hyping gibberish & all the cg screenshots which most ps3 gamers get off over. This game looks like a typical dull graphically joke console game. Now a friend of mine who owns a ps3 says its so over hyped. Thats all PS3 games are, smoke & mirrors & the final product is a joke.

If there were any more douches in this thread I could swear I would smell extra cleansing tropical aromas from my screen.
It's not a horrible game, just not the world beater everyone expected and some poor design choices (24 hour races...wtf?).
What do GT5 and day old doughnuts have in common? They can still be enjoyed but both have gone stale.
That's the problem with the series. Given the development time, GT5 is a carbon copy of GT4, with a fresh coat of paint. Nothing really new brought to the table. The features that are new seem pitifully half-arsed. Eg. the custom course designer. Polyphony has really slipped behind. GT5 was so-so and the long awaited Gran Turismo Mobile was a total bust. Real Racing on my iPhone blows it out of the water on every front.
GT5 isn't a bad game, but Polyphony needs to wake up and smell the competition. Hopefully Sony won't tolerate their crap anymore. Given how poorly SCE operates these days, I wouldn't hedge my bets on it though. 🙄

it's meant to be a simulator, not an arcade game. people need to understand that before buying it. if you want lots of flashing lights and particle effects, get need for speed. if you want to try out a ton of car models on faithfully recreated tracks, you buy gt5
Looks like the new NFS Shift might be what you guys are looking for. HDR and blur overload, no vacuum cleaner engines, Michael Bay crashes and fancy trees around the track.

I can't believe how some people are trying to defend the lack of crash modeling on all the vehicles. Seriously, with all the delays they couldn't even make all of the cars crash realistically? That's a friggin joke. It's something that many other games in the genre can do, but they make you wait until you unlock premium cars to see it? How absurd. What's next... are they going to disable the sound until I reach a certain point in the game?
How is a 24 hour race a poor design choice? You do know there are real 24 hour races? Its one of the few things that I actually think was a really cool thing for them to do, although I think they could improve it a lot (setup teams, and so it could be done as a collaboration with other players so that you only have to do stints and you could split it up into varying lengths). Plus, I mean, you can always just pause the game and come back later, so its not like its a huge issue.
