Cavemen had very simple communication systems, because their world was simple. In an evolved and advanced society, you need more eloquent and structured ways to communicate effectively. We just can't grunt and gesture our ways through any longer, though it may suffice for you.

Your argument is invalid, Rome was built with latin over 2,000 years ago.

Egypt, greece, china,,, all built without English.

Through the entire education system, how much time, money and resources are wasted on the english language? How many trees were cut down to make the text books, how much ink had to be make to print the books, how much fuel to transport the books?

How much sunshine to grow the corn, that sweetens the candybar, eaten by the truck driver, that drives the truck, that transports the books? HOW MUCH??!!

This thread is like a very crude dissertation on why Tex has been underemployed his entire adult life.

LOL, I see where this argument is going. Why o why did I bother?

You're right, take all your kids and grand kids out of schools, stat. Teach them Latin and Chinese, and Mexicanese or whateverelsese.

Methinks I just got trolled. Doubt it though.

The english language sucks. Why should someone strive to understand, or master crap?

Why would someone get a masters degree in operating a cotton gin? Its outdated technology, so your just throwing your time and money away.

Why master english when all you are learning is a crap language?

Do we dress up a bloated dead dog on the side of the road? No, we recognize it for what it is, a dead, bloated, stinking dog.

Grammar nazis are like pointing out a dead dog. Yea, its a dead dog, so what?

Translation: learning English is too hard, waaahh I'm going to cry about it instead of improving my skills at it!

I could write an essay on your comment, which I might just do for my blog.

Like I asked OCGuy, how many years of english did you take in school?

It's not a question of mastery. It would just be nice to see people learn the few rules that they constantly get wrong.

God Tier: Has strong opinions on when to use toward vs towards. Is probably an asshole.
Smart Tier: Can use a semicolon (but doesn't).
Regular Tier: People who sometimes miss to/too, homophones.
Dumb-ass Tier: People who can't use apostrophes, your/you're, their/there/they're.
Shit Tier: People who use double negatives and made up words.

It would probably take the average dumb-ass 1 hour of studying to jump up to regular.

Apostrophes - You are not smart enough to read between the lines? regardless of how something is wrote, doesn't it read the same?

Why do we need so many words that sound the same, but have different meanings?

Making up words - how else are words supposed to be added to the language?

As for your last statement: I do not disagree.

Sees the name TexasHiker, then sees his location is SouthEast Texas. Makes sense. By deductive reasoning, I'm also guessing he voted for Romney and watches FOX News.

If english was not so complicated, imagine how much time and money we could save in schools? Why teach kids english from the time they start school all the way through college?

Wouldn't it be a better idea to adopt something that was easier to learn?

Through the entire education system, how much time, money and resources are wasted on the english language? How many trees were cut down to make the text books, how much ink had to be make to print the books, how much fuel to transport the books?

If english was easier, we could probably shave years off the education system, and save billions of tax payers money.

None of it was wasted. Your attitude towards English and how you use it speak VOLUMES about what kind of person you are, and whether you've made the most of the free education that was offered to you as a student. You're advertising yourself with a big ol' virtual billboard.

Nothing worth having comes easy.

Yeah, I recently read the NY'er article on that. Problem is, neither the creator nor the language's biggest fans/scholars can actually speak it.

:D

My favorite part was when the language got taken over by Eastern European terrorists, who also presumably can't speak the language.
