Graduations SUCK.

Went to one yesterday, going to another one today. Good Lord, if there is anything so boring, then I don't know what it is. I hate all those "joyful" speakers trying to inject humor into the thing. Shut up, give your retarted cliche filled speech, and get off the stage. I didn't even go to my own college graduation.

Heh, I've never been to one.

Will be going to my girlfriends HS graduation in a week. If College graduations are that bad, I'll probably be asleep by the end.. lol.

i got my college graduatoin next week. they actually hvae a whole university graduation on Thursday in the Comcast Center (UMD) which I hear is like 3 hours. I'm going to my school's graduation, the school of Mathematics and Computer Science, on Friday at 11. its only going to be an hour thank god 🙂

but i'm glad i'm finally walkin !!!

I didn't go to my college one. I was more or less forced to go to my high school one, or I probably wouldn't have gone to it either.

Agreed, graduations aren't the most exciting things in the world. Mine last weekend actually seemed pretty short, even though it was over 2 hours. Luckily, they only graduate half the graduating class at a time, half in the morning, half in the afternoon. That was still probably 1200+. Got my brother's high school graduation later this week. I think his class is more than 400 people; hopefully it's not too bad.

I went to my brother's. Their speaker basically said congrats, now let's talk about me. His whole speech was about how successful he was.

Its not for you. Its for the parents. The pride that my parents have seeing me graduate is enough for me to be happy. I'm sorry that you were to cool to go to your college graduation. Let me guess, comp sci or economics?

My HS grad class was 550. BORING.

mine was 812. you were lucky.

Funny thing is I went to my cousin's which was only 200 or so and it seemed longer than mine. I guess there's a set length they try to fill out. With my class it was name, diploma, name, diploma... with hers it was name, <special 3 line sentence the person had to everyone>, diploma, pause, name...

I totally agree. My sister didn't go to her college graduation (she graduated in the summer, so no graduation ceremony unless she wanted to wait 5 months until after graduation to walk with the December graduates). My parent's were really proud to go to my graduation.

Plus, all my college professors warned me that if I didn't go to my graduation, I'd regret it later.

The ceremony itself was pretty blah (outside on a cold and windy day in may -- must have been in the low 50's, and we were all wearing t-shirts and jeans under our gowns since we thought it was going to be inside). The speaker was alright. Nothing special, but I'm glad I went. Plus, it gave me a chance to show off all of my medals and cords 😛

graduations are all about your parents... if they paid for your education, you should walk as a courtesy to them if anything...

besides, if you invite lots of relatives, you're likely to get more graduation money out of it 😉

imagine sitting thru my high school graduation where they call off each persons name all 953 members of the graduating class, and you couldn't leave till they had called all the names and i was a C.

Imagine being an R, and watching the idiot next to you shout on her cell phone how she just off the stage.. 😉

Why on earth will you regret not going to your graduation later in life?

You're gonna regret things like not asking that gorgeous girl out, or saying "no" when your friend Billy Gates asks you too invest in his new company. You'll regret hitting the cop that time you got drunk, and you'll regret not being there when you're kid is born or your parent dies.

But skipping the graduation ceremony? No way. Go if you want, but don't force yourself to go if you don't want to.

(Advice from one of the old people)
