I just caught my knee on my cord & broke a wire somewhere inside the cable. They still sound great out of the right driver, left driver is intermittent. :|

I've seen a couple threads here where people had received upgrades from Grado rather than repairing or replacing their existing product.

I can't find any info on Grado's web page, anybody know what the program is & what the options are?

I'm assuming it only applies to headphones under one year old (the warranty period), unfortunately mine are outside that period.

Does sennhieser (sp?) have a replacemtn program? I ran over the cord in with my chair and it stops playing sound randomly.

No idea, Grado is the only one I've heard offering this type of thing. Basically they gave you the option of receiving a replacement model that was the same, or paying $XX to upgrade to another model.

I believe the upgrade cost was something like $30 to go from SR-60's to SR-80's.

Ideally I'd like to go higher than SR-80, but even that would be a step up.

Call Grado up. See what they'll offer you. More-than-likely, they'll keep from posting their "unofficial" upgrade policy on their Web site. If that was the case, everyone would be breaking their SR-80s in an attempt to jump on the SR-125s for a few bucks more.

I know sennheiser has a warranty program.

I decided that having broken headphones for even one night was not acceptable, so I took a quick trip to Radio Shack.

Ended up with two 3' mono phono connectors with bare leads, a 1/4" stereo jack to L/R mono phono, and a nice heavy 1/4" extension.

Pulled the cups apart like this, removed the old leads, soldered on the new & everything is good now.

I can now run the drivers separately on a two channel amp if I want (good excuse to buy one, right?), or use the splitter to run them off a standard stereo headphone jack (either 1/8" or 1/4"). Plus the next time I catch on something it should pull a connector loose before I break something (plus these wires are much heavier than the old ones, should be less fragile).

On a side note, I was quite disappointed by the solder connections inside these things. U-G-L-Y. They sound OK but a drunken monkey with his balls in a vice could produce better connections.
