classy=aggravated troll.
do you post anything postive,or just piss and moan constantly?

Name one thing positive about Republicans and I'll post it? And just because I don't follow like a lost sheep like you doesn't make me a troll. You just keep following the yellow brick road, you hear.

One thing positive about Rebublicans, well that's going to depend on your views but for me I like getting a tax cut compared to the *DEMOCRAT* view of spending money on social reform.

I strongly believe on taking the tax cuts for future spending on growth and development of business and better for the overall economy etc...

Well I guess I'm king of the idiots then.
😀

Calling the man a fool does nothing to promote your own intellectual capability in mind or in public.

This is what gets me. Its not about me. Hey turn the light on upstairs for a second. Bush has accomplished 0 while he's been in office. And all the country has reaped is financial burden and war preparation. I gave Bush big props when 9/11 happened and I support the war on terrorism. But it has to be justified. And this man and his appointed officials have a duty to this country to lead us into prosperity, not back to the depression. These are facts, not my opinion. We have had financial setbacks under this man that we as a country haven't had in decades. Intellectual? I see your man of promises and I am a man of substance.

Going back to the UN isn't going to change his mind. He seems to have his mind set to finish what his father started 10 years ago... No matter what the truth is.

Don't get me wrong, I support fighting for our rights, but so far, there isn't anything that has proved to me that we should just jump in there without cause.

JMHO of course...

"Haven't had in decades"

Crawl out your diapers kid. You don't remember stagflation, inflation and all of the other 'flations of the 70's and 80's?

Yes, the economy is down right now. A big bubble popped, then the economy got stepped on with a terrorist attack and the realization and uncovering of the corporate wrongdoings of the 90's. That's a lot for any economy to handle. Look around the world son. There aren't many economies doing all that well right now.
I will make one comment that is hard to prove but I bet is correct.
If Gore had been elected the economy would not be any better, would probably be worse and you would have your head up his anus singing his praises.

Wait a second there, the economic setbacks is unfortunatley a little beyond Bush there buddy.
This is a product of something called GLOBALIZATION....
We are stuck in a liquidity trap yes but I think you need to investigate just a bit more before you go blaming the economic woes of this nation on the president!

DAMN right!

🙂

I thought it was a very good speech and it should boost his approval ratings up for at least a week or two. I give the person(s) who wrote it an A

All Bush had to do was deliver the speech...its not like he wrote it. You should consider that when voting.
That can be said for every President in the last 50 years (or more)

What's Clinton have to do with Bushes Speech of the fact that somebody whote it for him?

I really liked his speech. The first half dealt with the kind of stuff every SOTU speech goes over, but I really liked the second half.

I expecially agree with the point about not trusting Saddam to make "sane and sensible" decisions, and about how we cannot expect to be warned before he pulls any tricks.

His effectivness and smoothness has improved greatly. He still had some trouble with adding conviction to the first half of the speech, but the second half well made up for that. Overall - A- 😀

i gave him a C+. It didn't flow well, wasn't very charismatic or particularly powerful. I agreed with most of what he said though.

Vanilla. Boring speech, more rhetoric, and no evidence.
What about the economy. Where is the plan? Divident tax? That's it?

Bingo! 🙂
  • With unemployment rising, our nation needs more small businesses to open, more companies to invest and expand, more employers to put up the sign that says, ``Help Wanted.''

Jobs are created when the economy grows; the economy grows when Americans have more money to spend and invest; and the best and fairest way to make sure Americans have that money is not to tax it away in the first place.

I am proposing that all the income tax reductions set for 2004 and 2006 be made permanent and effective this year.

And under my plan, as soon as I've signed the bill, this extra money will start showing up in workers' paychecks.

Instead of gradually reducing the marriage penalty, we should do it now.

Instead of slowly raising the child credit to $1,000, we should send the checks to American families now.

This tax relief is for everyone who pays income taxes, and it will help our economy immediately. Ninety-two million Americans will keep this year an average of almost $1,100 more of their own money. A family of four with an income of $40,000 would see their federal income taxes fall from $1,178 to $45 per year.

And our plan will improve the bottom line for more than 23 million small businesses.

You, the Congress, have already passed all these reductions, and promised them for future years. If this tax relief is good for Americans three or five or seven years from now, it is even better for Americans today.

We should also strengthen the economy by treating investors equally in our tax laws. It's fair to tax a company's profits. It is not fair to again tax the shareholder on the same profits.

To boost investor confidence, and to help the nearly 10 million seniors who receive dividend income, I ask you to end the unfair double taxation of dividends.

Lower taxes and greater investment will help this economy expand. More jobs mean more taxpayers and higher revenues to our government.

The best way to address the deficit and move toward a balanced budget is to encourage economic growth and to show some spending discipline in Washington, D.C.

We must work together to fund only our most important priorities. I will send you a budget that increases discretionary spending by 4 percent next year, about as much as the average family's income is expected to grow. And that is a good benchmark for us: Federal spending should not rise any faster than the paychecks of American families.

A growing economy and a focus on essential priorities will be crucial to the future of Social Security. As we continue to work together to keep Social Security sound and reliable, we must offer younger workers a chance to invest in retirement accounts that they will control and they will own...
Get your heads out of your asses and maybe you'll hear the plan! :disgust:

I gave it a B-, not because the speech was particularly good but because I've come to expect this sort of frenzied circle jerk out of the SOTU address.

I was happy to hear that he will attempt to tackle the AIDS epidemic in Africa.

Africa needs major assistance to combat this out of control epidemic that will kill millions of people.

I just hope we aren't too late.

Did he say the economy has been growing like the lie he seems to believe? I didn't watch it so I graded it as incomplete but if he said that, I would have given him a low score.

The economy is growing. The Stock Market is declining. These are two seperate things.

There was a large stock market decrease before the gulf war started, after it was over the market shot back up.
