Grade 5 English class: The difference between there and their.

StageLeft

No Lifer
Man, sometimes I swear half the people on this board got pushed through school barely learning how to write or do the simplest mathematics.

Look over THERE.

THEIR house is big.

THEY'RE a rich couple.

God, if I had a nickle for every time somebody used 'there' instead of 'their' I could cure world hunger.

<< Cure world hunger, sure, but could you fill there lives with love? >>

Gest all you like but our childrens' futures bank on this!

Well you may be smartest than me but Im a gooder talker.
Bad spellers of the world untie
There are 3 types of people in this world those who can count and those who can't.

You learned that in grade 5? were you in the dumb kids class 😉 I think it was closer to grade 2 or 3 that we learned that.

That's great, although it would seem many people here are in at least high school and still don't know the difference

Their, their now, need we get upset over such simple things?

It's not like there intentionally trying to piss you off.

Don't you know how to use a period???

<< Don't you know how to use a period??? >>

Don't you know that three question marks is redundant, or are you jesting???

<< Don't you know how to use a period??? >>

Nevermind the period! I've seen too many posts of people who don't know how to use an apostrophe. It's not like you even have to hit the SHIFT key to type it either. I don't get it. 😕:frown:

Tripping over your self aren't you? 😉

ED: Forgot the smiley.

I hear you man. It's one thing to make the occasional spelling/grammer mistake in a post. I know I've made a few, and if I catch it there's always the Edit button. But some of the posts on this forum are so riddled with errors that you almost have to decipher it before you can understand it!

<< childrens' futures >>

Since you're on a grammar bent tonight Skoorb, it's Children's futures, not Childrens' futures.
Children is already a plural word so adding the 's makes it possessive.

🙂

It's come to my attention that people are using the word "does" in place of "do" with an alarming frequency. Please stop that immediately. It's even worse than there/their, or your/you're.
