Trying to do something fancy with a fairly low power rig, and wanted to know if any of these were even remotely possible. If they are possible, but stupid/a bad idea because of <reason>, that'd be good to know.

1: Use intel HD4000 iGP & an nVidia 650 in a faux SLI setup.
2: Plug in an nVidia 600 Series card and still use the motherboard's HDMI out.

Motherboard is gigabyte B75N if that helps at all. I know that there was some sort of hybrid Cross-SLI mashup chipset called Vitra or something from a couple years ago, but wasn't sure if because of nVidia's work on Optimus if anything had translated over to the desktop space.

1. No.
2. Not using the 600 GPU, only as a dual-card setup with video from the HD4000.

1: OK
2: With 2, what I mean is, let's say I have my monitor hooked up over HDMI using the port on the motherboard and then plug in a gpu into the PCIe slot. I have to move the cable, right? There's no way to have the discrete card send it's rendering through the motherboard's HDMI port, or is there? I assume the answer is also no, but just thought I would check.

Right. The motherboard connector will only send video from the HD4000.

What I was saying is that if you left the HD400 enabled, you could be sending (different) video from both the HD400 and the video card at the same time, using 2 cables to 2 different monitors.

But you can also do that using 2 connectors on the video card, using the video card's own dual-monitor support and ignoring the HD4000.

Yea, I've used that feature before, just for giggles.

Sounds like you're thinking of Lucid Virtu and Virtu MVP:

I'm not quite sure what it does, but it claims to do something.

Yea, that was what I was thinking of. But, this mini-itx board doesn't have that.

Ok, so simple answers are, neither is possible. Cool.
