just started happening my gpu fan speed is set to auto at 29% and while idle it was at 1050 rpms steady, now i haven't done anything different same speed at 29 percent and now fan is runniing between 1600-3200ish(fluxates) never going back down to that desire level of 1050 rpms i have latest drivers installed for my geforce 760 2 gig , i haven't moved my desktop, all other fans are working just fine i am in air condtionded room , i took off case not dusty at all, no cables blocking fan of gpu and other fans in pc. Why would my fan speed be at those reading, should i be concerned ?

If that's the case, then your fan is definitely working harder than it needs to. Did you change drivers recently? Have you checked the GPU utility to see if an option got toggled?

The heatsink probably is not fully contacting the GPU die anymore, so the fan has to spin extra hard to compensate. Maybe it got bumped? So if you remove the heatsink, reapply the thermal paste, and reconnect the heatsink to the GPU, does that fix it?

would a renistall of os fix it?

Unlikely.

I'd first remove GPU drivers and then reinstall the latest WHQL direct from nVidia.

If problem persists after that have a careful and close look at the card and look for the 3/4pin fan plug and visually inspect it is seated correctly to the fan header on the PCB of the card.
