System Specifications:

I. Processor/CPU: i7-2600k @ stock clocks

II. Current Graphics Card: XFX 6970

III. Display Resolution: 5760 x 1080

IV. Power Supply Unit Specification (Brand, Wattage, Ampage, Age). If possible, please provide a link to a website containing the power supply specifications: Corsair TX850m HERE

V. Case Specifications(N/A, Model, Length, Low Profile, Cooling, HTPC, Water, Silent): HAF 932

Purchase Details:

I. Budget? Please be sure to include currency (If not USD), retailer preferences & specify whether rebates are a viable option.

300 to 450 bucks Newegg or Amazon only (prefer newegg)

II. Any particular preferences (Manufacturer[nV or AMD], Brand[XFX, Sapphire, EVGA, etc], Cooling Solutions)? Brand is irrelevant

III. Do you plan to have any Multi-GPU solutions such as Crossfire or SLI? Not currently

IV. Have you previously looked at a product(s) which you feel would fit your needs? I've been on the fence for months

V. What are your needs for this GPU? Which games(If any)do you intend to play? If you have this information at hand, what are the desired detail levels?

I have 240 steam games + BF3 on origin and others not connected to origin or steam

VI. Do you plan on overclocking the card you intend to purchase? No I have not overclocked a CPU or GPU since 1993

Basically, I'm really upset at the delayed release of Sea Islands and Kepler Revision. I don't feel justified purchasing a 7970 or GTX 680 right now but this 6970 is barely cutting it. The question is should I purchase ANOTHER 6970 or should I try to wait the 8 to 12 months we're looking at for HD8000 or GTX 7xx

sell the HD 6970. should fetch you 120 - 140 bucks. get a HD 7950 boost. at stock matches GTX 670. overclock it to 1100 mhz and match the HD 7970 Ghz performance.

the sapphire HD 7950 boost with dual x cooler is very good. unlocked voltage. comes with crysis 3 and bioshock infinite. HD 7950 is the best price perf high end card in the market.

Nvidia is releasing the Geforce Titan at USD 900. its based on the GK110 chip. performance expectations are 85% of GTX 690. its a completely different price range.

HD 7950 is 3 - 6% slower than HD 7970 at same clocks. HD 7970 Ghz (1050 mhz) = HD 7950(1100 Mhz) = GTX 680(1200 Mhz). a HD 7950 at 1150 - 1200 Mhz can easily match or exceed a GTX 680(1250 - 1300 Mhz) for performance. its unbeatable in terms of value for money. there is no next gen products till Q2 from both AMD and Nvidia at less than USD 500 price point. and even then no next gen product at USD 300 will beat the HD 7950 when looking at OC performance. at most you will see a GTX 760 Ti performing like a GTX 680 sometime in Q2. but that performance is already available

Thanks for the explanation. I didn't know the 7950 performed that well. Its definitely looking more and more like I will buy a 7950 and possibly xfire them next year. I appreciate it.

I've never bought a Sapphire Card mostly my experiences are with Zotac, XFX, and EVGA. I know they are highly recommended. How is their Customer Service?

If it helps Sapphire has the same parents company as Zotac. Sapphire is also the first tier parter for AMD, they make all of AMD's professional cards.

I have several Sapphire cards going back to the x1950 pro and all of them are still running to day.
