Purchase Details:

I. Budget? 200-400 Euros Please be sure to include currency (If not USD), retailer preferences & specify whether rebates are a viable option.

II. Any particular preferences (Manufacturer[nV or AMD], Brand[XFX, Sapphire, EVGA, etc], Cooling Solutions)? I have no preferences but my MoBo supports xFire so AMD cards i think are better choice for me.

III. Do you plan to have any Multi-GPU solutions such as Crossfire or SLI? yes

IV. Have you previously looked at a product(s) which you feel would fit your needs? I think about 7850/7870/7950.

V. What are your needs for this GPU? Which games(If any)do you intend to play? If you have this information at hand, what are the desired detail levels?
I play a lot of games but my main target to maximize details in TERA.
I play all new RPGs too.

VI. Do you plan on overclocking the card you intend to purchase? yes 😉

Well u have quite a flexible budget from 263$ to 525$ 😉Before taking the plunge i would consider the NV alternatives.I believe by May they will announce their whole lineup.I am not sure how the prices stack up in your place. If u want to buy something now buy 7850 as later adding another 7850 will make your PC a gaming beast 🙂

Get an HD 7850, overclock the crap out of it.
Save a bit more money.
Buy another HD 7850.
Crossfire them.
Profit?!?

You're in a great position IMO.

Thanks a lot for the replies. I'd also like to know if TERA, a game that is running on DX9, is better to play on older cards.

I think Tera or any old game which uses dx9 will play just as well on new 7xxx cards. Is Tera slow on your 5770?

DX has become as meaningful as well, nothing. Grabbing any current gen card will give you great performance in any game which isn't heavily CPU limited.

Here in the US the 7870 and 7950 are only $50 apart. I don't know if pricing is comparable in Europe, if it is, $50 buys quite a lot of additional performance...

The 15% higher price translates to a similar increase in performance: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/550?vs=548. Some 7950's are as low as $380 though, which does make them easily a better deal than a $350 7870

But 7850 is better bang for buck than either.
