Whats up Ragin? I just picked one up here in NO. 3 left at the store I went to. Great deal, plus I got an extra 10% off for having to wait around for them to get it out of lockup (they were really busy)! :)

To the two or three comedians that gave me a 1 rating for this post: you are ruining a good forum by your chidish behavior. A GPS receiver for $37.88 is an outstanding buy, but if you do not know that you should not respond with such childish behavior.

99% of the people here are very nice and will go out of the way to help you, but there are always going to be a few who like playing games.

Delray, this is B & M only. You need to go to the store and ask for that SKU if it is not on display.

RajinCajun, I think that people meant to give you a good rating, but did not understand the rating system. Until you posted your complaint I did not know 1 meant bad. I think the mods need to take note. There needs to be a description of good vs bad on the rating page.

I would give you a 10 for a cool deal and a convenient coupon, but you have disabled your rating.

The OD in Rock Hill, SC had 3 left the other day. The OD at Carolina Place, Charlotte, NC had one left.

Just keep your user rating disabled. It is not worth it and is meaningless anyway. No one ever pays attention to it except you. There's just too many kids here for it to be useful.

It is serial.

I have to agree, nobody pays much attention to the ratings, but I would not attribute your rating to pranks. I just don't think people know how to use the rating. It should be self-explanatory, but the default is 1. How are people supposed to know if 1 is good or bad.

Here's a very good review of the unit & software.

Zucchini: I got mine last night and played with it for a couple of hours. It seems pretty nice, but I found one problem with the software (applicable to me): I live in New Orleans, which seems to be on the line they used to divide the map data onto the 2 cds. So, if I go across town, I need to swap discs from Eastern US to Western US. I can load the city map onto my HD, but there's no option (that I can find) to load all the map data for the entire US onto my HD, which is what I want to do (less CDs to carry on a trip is better). So, I installed MS Streets & Trips 2001 (which I love) with all the map data on my HD. The GPS receiver works like a charm with it. As a matter of fact, the receiver is very good for the price. It looks kind of cheap, but I even got reception with it in my home (near a window), whereas my roomate's old Magellan handheld and my eMap from work wont get satellite reception unless I go outside and move around for awhile.

Also, my OD had tickets for the unit stuck on the side of a "OD Travel Center"...this little aisle-end with RandMcNally Maps and Software. The tickets for the GPS+Software were just stuck to the side of it, unlabeled. Took me forever to notice it, but I found em! :)

i just took an hour lunch break to pick one up at a OD about 17 miles away.
of course i called in advance to make sure they had one in-stock.
when i got there, it was one of those branches that are going out of business.
(it seems like all of the NE stores are going out of business)

anyhow, the sales rep said that because they are going out of business,
they cannot honor the coupon. i tried reasoning with the lady... but in the end, i ended up walking out empty handed.

is this right? can they do that?

i just wasted my lunch break for nothing.

sigh.

Actually a while back I went to one that was closing up and they said they actually increased prices before they "dropped" them for the closing sale. On a Palm III Xe they wouldn't even match their website price. I think the company doing the closing of OD stores is not even OD and they don't have to follow the same rules.
