well you can get gps recievers that work with laptops. thats the best way to go if your not going to get a car based system. palm gps is kinda cr@ppy because the resolution is quite lousy and the screen is tiny. meaning u see very cr@ppy maps with not enough labeled roads because there are simply not enough pixels

on a decent laptop screen u can see quite a bit more detail. i have a randmcnally gps, its kinda old and i use it with my laptop. works wonders when i have to go somewhere i havn't been b4

even has useless info like speed/altitude etc

but since the software is from 2000, it doesn't have voice recognition
i've seen some newer ones at stores that claim to have voice navigation, that would be a great feature. fiddling with laptop while driving is less then fun.
anyways, its kewl.. pretty hard to get lost with gps.
