This is for my brother. He needs a good GPS for his new job, but isn't sure what to get. It needs to be portable enough to go between two vehicles, price isn't a big concern, but lets say under $800. He doesn't care about music, video, vibrating back massager and the other junk. It must have great routing, as he has to drive an average of 200 miles each day to different locations.

I'm not in the GPS loop, so I ask the experts here.

I just bought a Garmin C320 for my wife a couple weeks ago. So far I have no complaints at all with it and I only paid $350 for it. It will give voice commands to your destination and it has a fairly bright screen. It doesn't have a huge memory but I was able to load all of SoCal and the entire states of Arizona and Nevada into it. I tried to load NorCal but that would have required me wiping out both Arizona and Nevada. I figured we were more likely to go to one of those states than NorCal though.

A cheap laptop and DeLorme or MS streets&trips with a USB GPS will work with $200 left over for diner food and fried chicken.

Will it do routing for multiple points?

This was my original suggestion, but a number of factors make it unacceptable for his needs.

I have seen a LOT of commercials lately for these products...like Tom Tom, for example.

I simply use a map...LOL...so I don't know how good any of them are.

I'm not sure. I tend to doubt it though.

for multiple points, look at Garmin 2700 series or the lower generation 2600. I have the 2610, and its awesome.

I have the Garmin I5 and i love it.

$360 and i have complete map of US & Canada. Small enough to hide it anywhere & thieves doesn't pay attention to it b/c no one would even think a GPS would be that small.
