Question GPS data and logger question.

Hoping someone can help. I have a device which is a gps data logger. A Columbus v-900 which needs to be Rolled over due to now not being able to compute the correct date. Win 7 doesn't recognize the device even when using the correct data cable, just comes up with "USB Device Not Recognize". I downloaded the files needed with instructions and the first line asks to "View the COM port of the V-900 (COM6 shown)" but unable to find where to go to the COM ports settings.
