I did a research paper on the Keystone and came to the same conclusion. Trains stretch a very combustible liquid over open country in a variety of different places exposing them to danger, whereas a pipeline consolidates that danger to a narrow scope removing it from peoples neighborhoods. I brought up the national security issue of the pipeline and introduced wartime scenarios where having a protected source of crude oil inland is preferable to seaborne sources. Not all oil trains have a PTC installed which is why they keep on derailing without the company knowing it until hours after the fact if it was a remote area. The people crying foul have failed their deontological duties to seek out all obligations before arriving at a decision.Pipelines >>>>>>>>>>>> trains.
There really needs to be zero debate on these things. I don't understand how anyone could possibly oppose a pipeline given the alternative.
