Well, last night I tried marijuana for the first time and hated it. I tried it to see if my suspicion was correct (about not liking it), and now that I have I want to forget it ever happened.

My question is I heard if you have even done marijuana once, you cannot get a government job, is that true?

Let me also clarify that I also was wondering about when you get security clearances for classified information.

All pot smokers have government jobs. It's the thing to do.

I work for the government son. Just send me a nice fat check to my paypal account and we shall forget this ever happened.

I applied for an FBI position last fall. The questions they asked were, "Have you used marijuana more than 15 times or at any point in the last three years?"

I'm guessing if the answer were yes, they wouldn't hire you.

I was told that when you apply for a security clearance they interview people far back in your past.

Even if they don't interview those people, being a newbie first time weed smoker you are screwed. That sh!t stays in your system for ~10 years.

Wow, so they don't mind getting baked out of their trees at least once a month and sometimes more. Not bad, not bad. :p

I was told by a CIA recruiter that if you are a regular or a casual user, its hurts but experimental is ignored.

I wonder where the FBI came up with their lifetime figure of 15 uses (if I read that post correctly)

Edit: would also be interested to hear what you didn't like about the experience and your age. (you can round the age if you think it will make your real nick easy to identify ;) )

The PREDATOR internet monitoring system has detected pot use in this thread and has logged your IP. Please stand by as DEA agents are dispatched to your home.

It goes back 10 years to get your clearance. They'll interview people that you knew. Will they rat you out?

The three drug related questions that the FBI application asks are something like less than 15 usages total, within the last 3 years, and have you sold it. I would guess that this might transfer to other similar branches but I cannot confirm it.
