This is common sense / knowledge. Your subversive ideas and searches are being stored for future reference, which will be used against you in a court of law. Depending on the nature of the content, you could get immediate or deferred attention.
Dont believe me?
I've mentioned before back around 2007 or so I did a search for "how to rob a bank" and visited a few sites (none of which provided useful information other than to garner adsense hits). The NEXT MORNING as I opened the front door to leave for work there was someone sitting in an new, unmarked Ford Crown Vic facing the front door.
He was white, in is 40s, clean shaven, wearing a Texas Rangers style hat, white dress shirt, dark tie and sunglasses. He appeared to be looking in all directions except directly at me while taking written notes.
I glanced at him long enough to make a mental note, then headed for the car to leave for work. He did not follow. I have never seen him or that car again.
Your tax dollars at work.

Updated: 05/24/13 FBI wants backdoor to all encrypted internet traffic:A federal judge has ruled that Google Inc. must comply with the FBI's warrantless demands for customer data, rejecting the company's argument that the government's practice of issuing so-called national security letters to telecommunication companies, Internet service providers, banks and others was unconstitutional and unnecessary.FBI counter-terrorism agents began issuing the secret letters, which don't require a judge's approval, after Congress passed the USA Patriot Act in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
The letters are used to collect unlimited kinds of sensitive, private information, such as financial and phone records and have prompted complaints of government privacy violations in the name of national security. Many of Google's services, including its dominant search engine and the popular Gmail application, have become daily habits for millions of people.
In a ruling written May 20 and obtained Friday, U.S. District Court Judge Susan Illston ordered Google to comply with the FBI's demands.

Recently, the FBI has been attacking the going dark problemthat is, its inability to read all electronic communicationsfrom both legal and technological angles. It wants to be able to fine communications companies for refusing to comply with subpoena requests for the content of customers emails and chats. Its also trying to create ways of decrypting any communication sent via a Web service, like Gmail messages Facebook chats, or Twitter direct messages. It believes it can work with companies to build secure methods for lawfully intercepting communications on the Web. The FBI has subpoenas, warrants, and National Security Letters to get email; pen registers, traditional wiretaps, and cellphone eavesdropping tools to get telephone data; and all of the powers set forth in the original CALEA to monitor most Internet communications.
