Which is good, because at this rate it's going to take me a freaking year to beat the spoiler.

hes tough, but once you get the pattern down hes very beatable 🙂
took me like 7 tries, but when i finally beat him i had 5 energy tanks remaining.

[sarcasm]What a giant rip-off. I swear Gamespot is bias as he!!. Clearly the GOTY was Kabuki Warriors for the X-Box. That is the greatest fighter ever made![/sarcasm]

Um Splinter Cell is one of the highest rated games in history, and It wasn't even listed in the top 5? These people are smokin crack.

Bruce Lee was a great game as well. When I get tired of Kabuki Warriors (which is rare, I know), a little time with Bruce Lee entertains me.

at least no one is saying vice city deserves this honor...cuz seriously...after gta2...the franchise just wasn't the same anymore...metroid rox!

Splinter cell isnt worthy enough to be urinated on by Metroid Prime.

With all due respect, you're nucking futs. Splinter Cell is at least as good as Metroid Prime IMHO. But that's just my opinion.

I think the gameplay and graphics to metroid prime is awesome, the best combination I have ever experienced in a console game. I really enjoy the way they built the boards as well. Most boards have some sort of puzzle or confusing object that needs to be accessed later when you get the upgrades to use it. The game makes you use alot of different skills for different areas. Some test your hand eye coordination, sensitive movement, accuracy, quickness, patience, intuitiveness, and problem solving. IMO It really forces you to be adaptable while still not being too much of a challenge.

The only downsides, I feel, are the lack of story, and some parts become a little monotonous, making you backtrack alot. I don't really blame it though. Its in the same tradition of the other Metroid games. Little story but alot of running around completeing parts of the puzzle.

I have been playing alot of the Medal of Honor series on PC and the last game I played alot on console was Metal Gear for PS2. Now that has almost too much story. Most of that game is movies. In fact the last movie/story sequences are like 60+ minutes long!

All in all, I think Metroid Prime is easily one of the best console games I have played and the best of it's kind.

Sorry, your credibility just went to zero. Splinter Cell is a great game in its own right. Metroid Prime is probably a great game (I haven't played it), but you are nothing than a fanboy for Nintendo!

By the way, before anyone calls me an Xbox fanboy (yes I do own one), I had great fun paying the Gamecube with my bro's family last time I visited and I think Nintendo has the family market cornered. Yesterday my nephew came to visit, and I looked for a good Xbox family game to rent for us. I couldn't find a single worthy title except for MotoGP (I already have the demo) and some other lame racing game. Xbox could do better for the family market 🙁

Splinter cell has the worst gameplay interface ever. You have to hit the esc key to look at info or documents, blah blah blah. The other thing is that the guns are "arcade mode" you have to shoot somebody 5-6 times to kill them, wtf? I do like the swat camera that you can put under the door etc, but it is such a pita to get to it.

I am a big fan of the Tom Clancy series, but this needs a few tweeks for the PC, I think they rushed it from the console to pc.

Got this from www.gamerankings.com. If you aren't familiar with gamerankings, they take all the trusted reviews from around the net and game magazines, compiles and averages them. Here is the all-time listing of best averages. Splinter Cell still ranks up there, but for Prime to fall 4th on the all-time list, it's in the company of some great games, and deserves the GOTY from any publication.

Hey I haven't played it yet but I just wanted to thank you for knowing the difference between "then" and "than" (in the subject line). Props to you.

=)

*Spoilers*

I had no trouble at all beating the omega pirate. I killed him on my 1st try and hardly lost any energy...
Just jump over those shockwave things and shoot a super missile at each one of his pieces of armor. Once they are destroyed and he disappears, switch to xray so you can see him when he is recharging and shoot as many super missiles at him as you can before his armor is back. Using that strat he was simple to kill.

The only bosses that killed me (on norm difficulty) were Ridley, and Metroid Prime (died once to each of them). They were both easy the second time around after I figured out their pattern.

Now hard difficulty (after you beat the game once) is realllly tough. Everything takes like 10x more shots to kill and deals 10x more damage to you!

Nah, it's Game Spot. It will win next year when it's on PS2 and Gamecube.

Good ol' game spot. The only place that thinks Splinter Cell's graphics are only worthy of an 8 yet Tony Hawk 4 is worth a 10. All of that detailed lighting and complex textures in Tony Hawk. mmm.... Lets not forget how the clipping, weak textures, bad lighting and slowdown in GTA:VC aren't enough to pull that game's graphics score down past a 9.

BTW, good for Metroid Prime. It's a great game and deserved the win... even over Splinter Cell IMO.

Try the xbox version, if you can. The controls took very little time to get used to.

Separate comment: How the hell can Zelda: The Ocarina of Time be rated higher than Goldeneye?!?!?! That makes no sense, Goldeneye was:
A) Original
B) Had great graphics at the time
C) Was the first successful FPS on a console

I cannot believe it isn't in the top 3 at the very least. Zelda was a good game, but nowhere near as good as Goldeneye

I thought Zelda TooT was easily as good as Goldeneye.both were superb games.

edit:Ive played Splinter cell for the xbox,i just imagine how much better it could be in 1st person same as metal gear solid.
the controls are quirky.

What you think doesn't change how good a game is, or how popular it is. Your opinion is based on nothing other than the fact you are a Metroid/Nintendo fanboy. How original

If you live in the dorms, the real GOTY is Vice City hands down. Every fvcking person in my dorms plays it. My roommate and his friends got 3 cases of beer and really bored one weekend, and beat the damn game and alot of the subgames in 2 days.
