I'm going out for a smoke now. I'll probably stop at the bathroom to pee on the way back in.

I've got a homemade computer with a DVD drive and wireless network--is that considered a homemade dvd player?

No ;) you still use your computer for computer purposes. This computer is strictly for digital video entertainment :) and music, software connects to it, and i can send any song to it, and add it to the playlist, manage it etc. And I can do all of this from a remote control on the couch :) or from my laptop.. :)

I got through 2 pages of the comic I'm reading, and part of the introduction (the introduction was by steven King and I thought I should read atleast the beginning to determine if I detest his introductions to the degree I detest his fiction (I do)) while outside. I had a lovely pee, and got back to my desk safe and sound. I'm now chewing a bit of beef jerky, and keeping everyone updated on all of my movements.

Is the software you wrote available on the web?
What did you make the IR receiver out of?
Pics of the case?
Why not just buy some RCA plugs?

Now I'm wondering if I should build another WAP if my roommate does leave town, and if it should be B or G. G would be a bit of an investment, but would the speed be worth it? And would I want to continue with crappy cable service or switch to crappy DSL? Would I even stay in this apartment? The drive is nice, but it's so far away from everything but work.

Stick with B. G is too expensive for nothing. If you wanna do file transfers plug it in direct.

DSL if theres no DL/UL limit

With the prices on serial IR, I wouldn't have bothered. RF would have been better IMO.

What OS? (geniunely curious)
