Gotta love the Grados

It still amazes me to this day, six months after the initial purchase of my Grados and headphone amp, that cans can sound sooooo good. 🙂 If i want to feel the bass, i'll just turn on my Acs48s, make sure they're not overpowering the Grados, and i'll let the thundering bass + beautiful, accurate reproduction of music through my Grados usher me into ear orgasm... 😀

BTW, how does the Altec Lansing acs48 compare to the new wave of speakers such as the z560's and the promedias, negating the 400 bajillion watt/rms ratings and 4.1/5.1 setups? How do they compare in terms of sheer sound quality and accurate reproduction?

I love my headphones too. I ended up selling my pro medias because they sounded so bad compared to my AKG 501s and headphone amp. What Grados do you have?

My setup consists of:

sR 325
Creek OBH11
Straighwire ICs

I've been wanting to buy some Kimber ICs, but i've been poor lately 🙁

I just got a pair Sony MDR-V6s today, and they are sweeeeeet. I've been listening to them all the way up for about an hour now, my ears hurt 😛

Hey crab453, bend your headband. Mine is pretty flat at the top of the arch. And make sure you bend at where the earpieces meet the headband, that usually causes ear-ache too.

I did that the first day I had them... 🙁 They do sound great though.

Ahh, do you have the "comfy" pads, or the "bowl" pads? If you have the bowl pads, you may want to look into the Radio Shack pads, they're pretty soft. I had them on my first pair of sr60s, and they worked wonderfully.

I've had my Grados (SR60's) for over two years, and I'm still totally amazed that they sound SOOO damn good, considering the price I paid for them.... It is physically IMPOSSIBLE to find anything for $70 that even comes close to the clarity of the Grados. I've had friends tell me that I'm nuts when I say that, but all it takes is just one listen, and they're totally convinced... 😀 I've sold at least three pairs that way... 🙂

Hmm...I'll try that. Thx. 🙂

aphex, good luck finding any grados for too cheap.....if you get the sr-60s for below $70, consider yourself having found a great deal. i know there are a few decent audiophile shops in g-ville that would be more than willing to let you have a listen to them.

get beyerdynamic velour pads and they shouldn't hurt anymore!

farbio: Ive been to discount hi-fi too many times... care to direct me to the audiophile shops?? 🙂

Understood! What model do you have? I just have the SR60s and I'm always in pure, utter amazement. Oh man I need to go listen to them right now... have you ever listened to some Sheffield Labs CDs with your setup? Excellent reference media.

"I find my SR-60s are uncomfortable"

Yeah mine too- they feel great at first, but they make your ears really sore after only a half hour or so. I'm going to try that headband idea that someone did above..

Thanks night, i'll definately look into that... May i ask who the seller was if ya remember? You can PM it to me if ya dont wanna post it here, i dont mind... Thanks in advance...

a good place to look for headphones and accessories; I've shopped there a bit and always had good luck. Already have the Beyerdynamic 250-80's and getting an amp shortly. Plus, they seem to have a wide selection and know what they're talking about.
