Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods- $3.89 w/ shipping worth it?

I loved the Gothic series but even at this price I am little hesitant to buy the game. I heard this game was such a mess when it first came out. Does anyone know if they patched this game enough to be playable.

I heard the patches fixed a lot of the issues with the game but the game still was fatally flawed with quest chains that couldn't be completed and very random behavior from the NPCs.

Its a bug ridden mess that needs a lot of tweaking even with the Community Patches, but for under 4 dollars . . .

If you end up getting frustrated, you only really lost a few McDoubles from MCDs. 😛

There is a big community overhaul of this game in the works, so it will likely be worth playing once that is released. I haven't personally played the game though, just Gothic 3. So I can't really judge what the game might be like with the community fixes, since it's an entirely different dev team that did that game.

Grab the game and then wait for the community patch to be released. In it's original state Forsaken Gods is a huge buggy mess that I would only recommend to the most die hard Gothic fans out there. Once the community patch team finishes work on it however, it may be playable.

If the OP has Vista or 7 64 bit, he'll need to replace the font. Game is stuck at 1fps regardless of hardware otherwise.

With a community patch incoming for Forsaken Gods, I might pick it up for under 4 dollars myself though.

Edit - I'm a tool. 🙁 90 cents and 2.99 for shipping is damn cheap.

When I last tried G3, with the 1.70 CP, it was not and I had to do it manually. If you run into trouble, I have the font file to email to people easily enough if you cannot find it through google.

Edit - 1.74 is the latest CP.

Play G3 with the latest community patch first. Forsaken Gods is a continuation of the story. It was meant to bridge the gap between G3 and Arcania. Although, I haven't yet played Arcania so i'm not sure how well it actually does that.

I did not need to do that,don't ask me why,anyway I played and finished Forsaken Gods when it was first released few years back ,it was buggy back then,should be a lot less buggy and playable by now, Forsaken Gods felt empty compared to G3.
