Gothic 3: Final 1.07 Community Patch is Released

Amazing!! More then 700 fixes. You need one day to read the whole changelog. This probably fixes the game, after 3 years from its release date. 🙂

This is an awesome patch, and its great that they made it. However, PB/Jowood still need a beating for releasing Gothic 3 as it was in the first place. The community's role should be in enhancements and extra content, not fixing the crap the the developer and publisher failed to.

Agree on all accounts. Did you see the mess JoWood released in the stand alone G3-Foresaken Gods? True, they had another company develop it but they should be quality control which is something drastically missing from their latest releases. By the way, Pyhrana Bytes had nothing to do with anything G3.

It was the Circle of 8 fan based communitythat was able to make The Temple of Elemental Evil finally playable. Atari never did patch as needed and it took a Troika employee in his own time to help patch that bug infested monstrosity.

This is happening too often.

So, you just need the retail Gothic III and thats it? Whats that forsaken gods? Is it an expansion? Do you need that as well?

Forsaken Gods is an expansion; you don't need it.

For those of us who have waited years to play a real game of Gothic 3 (and marveled at it's potential) this is a godsend. I hope.

I played about 1 1/2 hours last night on a new game.

I've only gotten to the parts around Ardea, Reddock, and Cape Dun so far. Haven't noticed any plot or quest difference up till now but I think there's snippets of new dialogue already. New characters as well (for instance - there are fishermen at the fishing village where Lester is now).

Also

MUCH less stuttering. It's not completely stutter free, but it's more on a normal open RPG scale like Oblivion (about a seconds worth of stutter when you go towards a new area and pretty smooth after that). A good example is the entrance to the cave at Reddock. My PC would stutter whenever I entered it for the first time each game before 1.7, but after the patch there was none at all.

More detailed graphics (a Very high detail option). I was able to max out the game with my 8800 Ultra, so any newer card should make it even smoother.

An option to re-balance the game when you start and improved combat. Again - I haven't been deep enough to notice many differences, but I did do a few arena fights and the combat seems better to me. It's more on par with combat from the earlier Gothics without having to press the ctrl key to attack.

So far - This is what the game should have been. It would easily have been considered an equal to Oblivion and surely a better game by many people.

If you're lamenting the lack of PC only games (especially RPG) and you never tried Gothic 3, nows the time to give it a shot.

The CD check removal from 1.6 intact.

I bought the Gothic Universe pack months ago, and did nothing but play a short bit of Gothic (1) before building my new pc, so I'm interested to know about this, thanks. Although I would like hearing from a couple of guys who are actually playing this patch. Anyone here?

Via, thanks for the update. I didn't discover the Gothic franchise until last summer and G1 and 2 + the Expansion are some of the very best RPG experiences I have ever played. I purposely held off installing G3 until Patch 1.07 was released.

By the way, I don't need all the eye candy so do you think my socket 939 Athlon 64 dual core 3800+ and 9600GT card suffice for a decent gaming experience?

One other thing: You don't need to install any previous patch. 1.07 will suffice.

I got G3 running decently on a setup similar to yours with a few ini tweaks. That was way before any of the community patches, so you'll probably be fine. My graphics card at the time was less powerful than yours as well.

I'm going to try the patch very soon. If it does half of what they said then i'd gladly play through again.

Hey, thanks for the input. I think I'll play on medium settings and see how it goes.

Does liberating enough human cities still cause all orcs in the game to become hostile?

I would hope so, since liberating human cities should piss them the hell off.

I beat this back before any patches were released, I'm tempted to give it a try once my new hardware comes in, however I doubt I'd play through the entire game again since it's really freakin huge.

Yeah so I finally installed Gothic 3 today. Installed this patch, and it worked, and the game basically ran well, except that during my short play test, it did freeze up momentarily in a couple of spots. There is obviously a ton of play in this game for those interested, and I'm sure that the community patch represents a real achievement, but I'm not feeling very enthused about getting heavily invested in this thing.

My Gothic Universe collection will be showing up in my next fs/ft thread I guess 🙁

After I lowered texture to medium from high everything is running ok and it has been freeze/crash free.

I really hate how you can kill orcs and big monsters but die from a stupid wolf or a boar when they do their berzerk attack.

and I wish I can run faster. and Leveling is a bit complicated. do I get enough learning points to at least try everything or do I need to focus on one skill?

I think you're thinking about the original Gothic. Wolves were a bitch in that game.

I've had a interest in this game for a while so with this community patch I decided to buy it. Nice how it doesn't have any CD check or require a serial number.

Time to take it for a spin (after two attempts to get the patch to work).

having alot of fun. Turns out it was not texture but shadow and vegetation level. Now I have highest texture with vegetation and show on medium and it runs fine.

It is very surprising how much stuff they have crammed in. I am ok with lags here and there.

so far, very interesting game.
