Gothic 2 rocks

Any RPG fans? Gothic 2 is a single-player RPG which continues the story from Gothic where your character gets sent into a prison mining colony and has to adventure his way out. What sets Gothic apart from most RPGs is it's immersiveness. NPCs dont just stand in a coordinate or have a simple random wander path, they sleep, talk to eachother, some have jobs which they return to every morning. If you draw your sword next to NPCs who don't trust you, they draw their weapon and demand you put it away. Or if you waltz into one of their homes they while they are around they get angry and threaten you. You can fight NPCs and jsut knock em unconscious where you can loot em and not have to kill em (killing people is a serious crime if you caught). Anyway, It's tons of fun, and a hell of alot better than Morrowind. I suggest you try it out! It's available at GoGamer.com right now, or you have to wait a few months for mainstream software shops to get a copy (it was developed in Germany)

Yeah, the first Gothic was excellent. Best RPG I've played that wasn't made by Bioware, Black Isle or Bethesda Softworks.

So has the inventory system for Gothic 2 been improved any from the first Gothic? Because that was by far the most annoying design I've ever seen, with the possible exception of the Fallout games.

Well, the inventory hasn't really changed. I don't really see too many problems with it, although it is rather rudimentary. What were the troubles you had with it?

Yes been playing it since last Friday,Gothic 2 is just like the first Gothic however controls are improved etc,I`m at level 16 now kicking those Orcs butt.

exp,the inventory is nice and simple now ,way better then the first Gothic,Gothic 2 is a must buy 🙂.

Does the demo do it justice? It sounds like a cool game, but the demo was released around 6 months ago! I'd like to check it out before plunking down my hard earned cash. 🙂

That demo you speak of is in German, so unless you are fluent in that language you'll have to wait until the English demo comes out. From what I hear, the demo is a good indication of how the game really is, but I myself have not tried it.

exp,
did the inventory really change that much? I guess I forgot the inventory system of Gothic already!

What were the troubles you had with it?
What really bugged me was how you had to repeatedly cycle through one item after another to reach the one you want. I mean, there were times in Gothic 1 when you literally had to use *dozens* of keystrokes just to get at a single item. And if, God forbid, you should press one wrong key (all too easy to do when your tired fingers have spent the last few hours fumbling through Gothic's maze of key combos...) while in the purchasing or looting screens the inventory would return to default, forcing you to repeat the entire process all over again by cycling back through the different categories and then down to the item.

I don't mean to scare off anyone who has yet to play Gothic--the interface is really only a small problem in an otherwise great game. It just enrages me because it's so unnecessary...there is no reason whatsoever to use such a horribly clunky interface system.

You were also required to use these arcane key combinations to equip or drop items. That didn't bother me too much, though. I hear that may have been changed in Gothic 2 anyway, as much of the control system has been simplified.

Ahh ok now I remember! Yeah that's been made much nicer! All items are on one inventory, sorted by item type (so first comes weapons, then armor, potions, ingredients, scrolls and finally miscellaneous items. Then you can easily scroll up and down list for what you want.

On the default setting for fighting you have to use the arrow keys as well,so like hold left click on mouse and depress left or right or forward /back arrow keys as well, you can get attack combos this way.

This game is simply amazing! One of the greatest games ever made easily! I love it and highly recomend it to any serious gamer!

CrowDog start saving for the Gothic 2 expansion pack and also Gothic 3 is in the pipeline as well 🙂.

People could sell this game on the corner downtown by the liquer store.....If thier not careful Ill smoke it! Most addicting game Ive played since Counter-Strike...its alot different than CS but I must say the addiction is even more so! Ive put in 25hrs in 4days!

brb...gonna go play!

I never played Gothic. It is cool because some of the characters you meet in Gothic2 are, I guess, from Gothic. And usually you can pick something like "Hey bob whats up!" or "uhm... do I know you?". And if you never played Gothic, just pick the second one to get filled in pretty quickly.

Any word on the patch for the English version? I heard tell they were making one.
]

No news yet,btw I finished the game and it`s pretty good even without any future patch, was fun playing as a badass Paladin 🙂

I think I leveled up too much since found the ending too easy.

🙂

I agree with the end being too easy, the last 2 chapters you become like a god. The paladin Magic is too powerful and Ive just become too strong. Im into the 6th chapter at level 36 and havent played in a couple days. When a game becomes too easy I get bored of it🙂...It sucks really....I thought this game was gonna be one of my fovorites of all time. Oh well...maybe Ill try again as a Mage...I hear its harder.
