This is definitely the nail in the coffin for blu ray!

hehe
I know what a tool.

You might want to check out your cabling or your settings as I watched XMan 3 on BluRay on my PS3 and it was a beautiful picture (the movie still sucked)

I think everyone missed the point on this one. 😛 This spells the end for Hd-DVD!!!

Probably using the mpeg4 codec.

FYI, mpeg4 isn't a codec. It's a container.

mpeg4 is most certainly a codec.
Technically it's both, MPEG4 defines some 23 "parts" which are different standards for everything from video to reference hardware. When people talk about MPEG4, they're usually talking about Part 2 "simple profile" video(e.g. Divx) or Part 10 "AVC" video(e.g. H.264).

GEEKSPLOSION

I don't know about you but I thought it was delicious

Dumb question but this isn't the first BR disk you have watched, is it? Have you tried other movies to make sure your configuration is a-ok?

I'm not getting Blu-Ray yet. Just too new, and who knows whats going to win out.
With my Netflix membership I haven't had to buy a single disc to enjoy 1080p goodness, just the PS3.

$600 is a lot to spend to enjoy 6 times the resolution and a game now and then, but life's short.

You could always spend $300 on a HD-DVD instead, though the movie selection is weaker and blu-ray discs have outsold HD-DVD 2-to-1 so far in 2007.

The difference between 480 (standard DVD) and 720, (HD-dvd/Blu-Ray) is hardly six times. 1080P is not standard, and still not six times, are you sure you have actually seen anything at 1080P? They are out there, but few and far between.

Wrong. Every movie on HD DVD and Blu-Ray is in 1080p.

Standard DVD is 480i. Both blu-ray and HD-DVD are encoded at 1080p, though the cheapest HD-DVD player only outputs discs as 1080i.

My Samsung DLP has a native resolution of 1080p, accepts a 1080p signal, and my PS3 outputs blu-ray as 1080p. So yes, I've seen quite a few discs in true 1080p not just upscaled.

it's your setup buddy. almost all of the review sites gave the picture an A+. it looks perfect on my 110" Sony Pearl at 24Hz playback.

EVERY OTHER BLU-RAY MOVIE LOOKS AMAZING (i have said this a few times) the ONLY movie that looks like SHIT Is X-men 3.

so if my setting are messing it up. WTF setting is it? i mean there has to be a special xmen3 setting so where is it?

I haven't seen this x-men movie on blu-ray to know for sure, but does the movie have a grainy look to it? That's always a topic for debate another day. But there are some good Blu-ray movies, there are some bad Blu-ray movies. The movies released the past couple months have been leaps and bounds better than the movies released a year ago, and they're only going to get better going forward. What can ya say?
